Abstract

According to the present invention, a stopper member lock mechanism is configured to lock a stopper member from rotating in a direction from a forward tilt location to a use location with respect to a shaft when the mirror assembly that is positioned in the forward tilt location is restored to the use location and to release the locked state of the stopper member when the mirror assembly is restored from the forward tilt location to the use location. As a result, it is capable of causing the mirror assembly to be precisely positioned in the use location without any positional shift when the mirror assembly that has rotated from the use location to the forward tilt location for the sake of buffering is rotated and restored from the forward tilt location to the use location.

Claims (12)

1. A vehicle outside mirror device comprising:

a base that is fixed to a vehicle body;

an electrically driven storage unit; and

a mirror assembly that is rotatably mounted to the base via the electrically driven storage unit,

wherein the electrically driven storage unit comprises: a shaft that is fixed to the base; a casing which is rotatably mounted to the shaft, and to which the mirror assembly is mounted; a buffering mechanism; a lock mechanism; a motor; and a rotation force transmission mechanism,

wherein the buffering mechanism is a mechanism which is made of: a first member; a second member that is the casing; and a spring, and in which a notch portion is provided each of the first member and the second member, when the mirror assembly is positioned between a use location and a storage location by means of an electrically driven rotation, the notch portion of the first member and the notch portion of the second member are caused to engage with each other by means of a spring force of the spring, and when the minor assembly rotates forward from the use location with respect to the shaft for buffering, the notch portion of the second member runs aground the notch portion of the first member against the spring force of the spring,

wherein the lock mechanism is a mechanism configured to lock the first member from rotating in a direction from the forward tilt location to the use location with respect to the shaft when the mirror assembly is positioned between the use location and a forward tilt location and to release the locked state when the mirror assembly is restored from the forward tilt location to the use location, and

stopper protrusion portions adjacent to the shaft,

wherein the first member includes a jaw portion having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, second notch portions extending from the first side of the jaw portion, lock protrusion portions extending from the second side of the jaw portion, and flexible thin portions disposed on either side of the lock protrusion portions,

wherein in the locked state the flexible thin portions are elastically deformed, the lock protrusion portions are disposed down such that a side face of the lock protrusion portions engage a side face of the stopper protrusion portions,

and in the release of the lock state the flexible thin portions are not elastically deformed and the lock protrusion portions are disposed up such that a side face of the second notch portions do not engage a side face of the stopper protrusion portions.

2. The vehicle outside mirror device of claim 1 , wherein in the release of the lock state the second notch portions of the first member are positioned in notch portions of the second member so that the lock protrusion portions are disposed upward to release the lock state.
