SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONFIGURING ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC MAILBOXES
A system and method for configuring access to an electronic mailbox based on limited configuration parameters received from a user. A database stores configuration conventions for a mail domain. A mailbox interface module receives configuration information from a user that is limited in the configuration parameters required for accessing the electronic mailbox. The module retrieves configuration conventions for the mail domain from the database and generates sets of potentially valid configuration parameters based on the retrieved configuration conventions and user supplied configuration information for accessing the mailbox.

44 . A system to access an electronic mailbox, comprising:
a mobile wireless communications device configured to:
receive an email address and a password; and
a server, in communication with the device, and configured to:
generate parameters to access the electronic mailbox, the parameters generated based on the email address, the password, a convention, and statistics about using the convention to access the electronic mailbox.
45 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the parameters include at least one of a server name, a mail protocol and a login name.
46 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the convention is used by an email provider for access to the electronic mailbox.
47 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the convention includes at least one of an expression for a server name, a mail protocol, and a login name.
48 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the statistics include a percentage of successes of using the convention.
49 . The system of claim 44 , wherein the device is further configured to receive additional user supplied information and the server is further configured to generate the parameters based on the additional user supplied information.
50 . A mobile wireless communications device to access an electronic mailbox, comprising:
a processing device configured to:
receive an email address and a password; and
access parameters to access the electronic mailbox, the parameters generated based on the email address, the password, a convention, and statistics about using the convention to access the electronic mailbox.
51 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 50 , wherein the parameters include at least one of a server name, a mail protocol and a login name.
52 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 50 , wherein the convention is used by an email provider for access to the electronic mailbox.
53 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 50 , wherein the convention includes at least one of an expression for a server name, a mail protocol, and a login name.
54 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 50 , wherein the statistics include a percentage of successes of using the convention.
55 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 50 , wherein the processing device is further configured to receive additional user supplied information and the parameters are further generated based on the additional user supplied information.
56 . The mobile wireless communications device of claim 55 , wherein the additional user supplied information is a mail protocol.
57 . A method to access an electronic mailbox, comprising:
receiving an email address and a password; and
generating parameters to access the electronic mailbox, based on the email address, the password, a convention, and statistics about using the convention to access the electronic mailbox.
58 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the parameters include at least one of a server name, a mail protocol and a login name.
59 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the convention is used by an email provider for access to the electronic mailbox.
60 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the convention includes at least one of an expression for a server name, a mail protocol, and a login name.
61 . The method of claim 57 , wherein the statistics include a percentage of successes of using the convention.
62 . The method of claim 57 , further comprising receiving additional user supplied information and generating the parameters based on the additional user supplied information.
63 . The method of claim 62 , wherein the additional user supplied information is a mail protocol.
