Abstract

A thrombectomy catheter deployment for operation of a thrombectomy catheter includes a stand alone drive unit and a disposable pump/catheter assembly which is manually placed into a carriage assembly in the drive unit. The pump/catheter assembly has a plurality of preconnected components including tubular structure and a thrombectomy catheter connected thereto and is transported into or out of the interior of the drive unit for automatic high pressure pump piston head engagement or disengagement with a reciprocating linear actuator and for automatic engagement of disengagement of an effluent waste tube with a roller pump. A barcode reader senses specific operational data pertaining to an individual pump and provides an interface for operation of the reciprocating linear actuator.

Claims (42)

1. A pump and catheter assembly for use with a drive unit comprising:

a preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly including:

a catheter, and

an infusion pump in communication with the catheter, the infusion pump including a piston having a piston head, the piston head is configured for coupling with a pump connector of a drive unit, the drive unit configured to reciprocate the piston;

wherein the infusion pump and catheter are in communication prior to loading within the drive unit; and

wherein the consolidated pump and catheter assembly includes one or more digital instructions for the drive unit.

2. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly includes a connection manifold assembly including:

an infusion inlet port configured for communication with a source of infusion fluid,

an infusion outlet port in communication with an infusion lumen of the catheter, and

an infusion path in communication with the infusion pump and the infusion inlet and outlet ports.

3. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 2 , wherein the infusion path includes a bubble trap.

4. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 2 , wherein the infusion path includes at least a portion of a pump cylinder of the infusion retaining the piston therein, and a check valve is provided in the portion of the pump cylinder.

5. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 2 , wherein the connection manifold assembly includes:

an effluent return port in communication with the effluent return lumen of the catheter,

an effluent outlet port in communication with an effluent reservoir, and

an effluent path in communication with the effluent return and outlet ports.

6. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital instructions are included with a data plate coupled with the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly.

7. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital instructions includes one or more operating modes for the drive unit to operate at least the infusion pump.

8. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital instructions includes calibration information for the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly, the calibration information configured to calibrate the drive unit for the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly.

9. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 1 comprising the drive unit with a pump connector and the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly is configured for loading and retention between the pump connector of the drive unit and a carriage assembly of the drive unit.

10. A pump and catheter assembly for use with a drive unit comprising:

at least one preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly configured for loading and unloading from a drive unit, the at least one preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly includes:

a catheter, and

an infusion pump in communication with the catheter, the infusion pump including a piston having a piston head configured for coupling with a pump connector of a drive unit;

wherein the at least one preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly has unloaded and loaded configurations:

in the unloaded configuration the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly is separated from the drive unit, and

in the loaded configuration the preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly is retained within the drive unit and the piston head is coupled with the pump connector of the drive unit; and

wherein the at least one consolidated pump and catheter assembly includes at least one digital instruction for the drive unit.

11. The pump and catheter assembly of claim 10 , wherein in the loaded configuration the piston head is coupled with the pump connector with a snap fit connection.
