Abstract

An intelligent television is provided with a storage, such as a database, for a number of reports. As reports are created, and free space in the storage decreases, reports may be deleted. Reports may be deleted upon delivery to a server or deleted upon determining an older report exists. Optionally, one report, such as one containing first time data associated with an initial power-up of the television, may be preserved.

Claims (27)

1 . A method of managing television usage reports, comprising:

storing a number of reports on a data storage device associated with a television;

determining the number of reports in the data storage device has reached a threshold and deleting an older report from the data storage device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, iteratively looping through (a) the determining of the number of reports in the data storage device has reached the threshold and (b) deleting an older report from the data storage device.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, retaining one of the number of reports associated with first-time data of the television.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, writing a report to the data storage device, the report further comprising a serial number.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein deleting an older report from the data storage device, further comprises, deleting a report with an earlier serial number.

6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the report further comprises testing data.

7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the report further comprises debugging data.

8 . A television, comprising:

a processor;

a storage;

whereby the processor causes a number of reports on a data storage device associated with a television and determining the number of reports in the data storage device has reached a threshold and deleting an older report from the data storage device.

9 . The television of claim 8 , further comprising, the processor iteratively loops through the (a) determining the number of reports in the data storage device has reached the threshold and (b) deleting an older report from the data storage device.

10 . The television of claim 8 , further comprising, the storage retains one of the number of reports associated with first-time data of the television.

11 . The television of claim 8 , further comprising, the processor writing a report to the data storage, the report further comprising a serial number.

12 . The television of claim 11 , wherein the processor deleting an older report from the data storage device, further comprises, deleting a report with an earlier serial number.

13 . The television of claim 11 , wherein the report further comprises testing data.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the report further comprises debugging data.

15 . A non-transitory computer readable medium with instructions that when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform:

storing a number of reports on a data storage device associated with a television;

determining the number of reports in the data storage device has reached a threshold and deleting an older report from the data storage device.

16 . The instructions of claim 15 , further comprising, iteratively looping through (a) the determining of the number of reports in the data storage device has reached the threshold and (b) deleting an older report from the data storage device.

17 . The instructions of claim 15 , further comprising, retaining one of the number of reports associated with first-time data of the television.

18 . The instructions of claim 15 , further comprising, writing a report to the data storage device, the report further comprising a serial number.

19 . The instructions of claim 18 , wherein deleting an older report from the data storage device, further comprises, deleting a report with an earlier serial number.

20 . The instructions of claim 18 , wherein the report further comprises debugging data.
