11 . A method for providing one of two types of user interfaces in an intelligent television, the method comprising:

receiving, by a processor of the intelligent television, a filter criteria;

providing a catalog view of one or more television series associated with the filter criteria;

receiving a selection of a television series from the catalog view;

determining if the television series includes one season;

if there is only one season, providing a first digest view of the season;

receiving a second selection of an episode; and

playing the episode in a series player including a user-selectable device to navigate to at least one of a next episode or a previous episode.

12 . An intelligent television system comprising:

a memory operable to store video-on-demand (VOD) content;

a processor in communication with the memory, the processor operable to:

execute a user interface application operable to:

receive, by a processor of the intelligent television, a filter criteria;

provide a catalog view of one or more television series associated with the filter criteria;

receive a selection of a television series from the catalog view;

determine if the television series includes one season;

if there is only one season, provide a first digest view of the season;

17 . The method as defined in claim 11 , wherein the series player includes a playback control.

18 . The method as defined in claim 17 , wherein the user-selectable device is associated with the playback control.

19 . The method as defined in claim 18 , wherein the playback control is in a footer.

20 . The method as defined in claim 19 , wherein a first user-selectable device for the previous episode is provided to a left of the playback control in the footer.

21 . The method as defined in claim 20 , wherein a second user-selectable device for the next episode is provided to a right of the playback control in the footer.

22 . The method as defined in claim 21 , wherein the playback control includes selections to rewind the episode, forward the episode, play the episode, and pause the episode.

23 . The method as defined in claim 22 , wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include thumbnails representing the previous and next episode.

24 . The method as defined in claim 23 , wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include names for the previous and next episode.

25 . The method as defined in claim 24 , wherein selecting the first or second user-selectable devices begins a playback of the previous or next episode.

26 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 12 , wherein the series player includes a playback control, wherein the user-selectable device is associated with the playback control, and wherein the playback control is in a footer.

27 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 26 , wherein a first user-selectable device for the previous episode is provided to a left of the playback control in the footer, wherein a second user-selectable device for the next episode is provided to a right of the playback control in the footer, and wherein the playback control includes selections to rewind the episode, forward the episode, play the episode, and pause the episode.

28 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 26 , wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include thumbnails representing the previous and next episode, and wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include names for the previous and next episode.

29 . The intelligent television system as defined in claim 28 , wherein selecting the first or second user-selectable devices begins a playback of the previous or next episode.

30 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon processor executable instructions that cause a computing system to execute a method, the instructions comprising:

instructions to receive, by a processor of the intelligent television, a filter criteria;

instructions to provide a catalog view of one or more television series associated with the filter criteria;

instructions to receive a selection of a television series from the catalog view;

instructions to determine if the television series includes one season;

if there is only one season, instructions to provide a first digest view of the season;

instructions to receive a second selection of an episode; and

instructions to play the episode in a series player including a user-selectable device to navigate to at least one of a next episode or a previous episode.

31 . The computer readable medium as defined in claim 30 , wherein the series player includes a playback control, wherein the user-selectable device is associated with the playback control, and wherein the playback control is in a footer.

32 . The computer readable medium as defined in claim 31 , wherein a first user-selectable device for the previous episode is provided to a left of the playback control in the footer, wherein a second user-selectable device for the next episode is provided to a right of the playback control in the footer, and wherein the playback control includes selections to rewind the episode, forward the episode, play the episode, and pause the episode.

33 . The computer readable medium as defined in claim 30 , wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include thumbnails representing the previous and next episode, and wherein the first and second user-selectable devices include names for the previous and next episode.

34 . The computer readable medium as defined in claim 33 , wherein selecting the first or second user-selectable devices begins a playback of the previous or next episode.
