Abstract

An image pickup apparatus that allows for short-distance photographing comprising: a photographing lens portion including a focus lens and a variable power lens; a lens driving portion; an image pickup portion; a recording portion that records images obtained by the image pickup portion; a driving control portion that moves the variable power lens so as to have a same magnifying power of images on the image pickup portion at a plurality of focused positions; a control portion that causes the image pickup portion to continuously pick up a plurality of images at a same magnification at the plurality of focused positions and causes the recording portion to store the plurality of; and an image combining portion that cuts out an image area having a predetermined contrast from each of the plurality of images and generates on composite image.

Claims (16)

1. An image pickup apparatus that allows for short-distance photographing, the apparatus comprising:

a photographing lens portion including a focus lens and a variable power lens;

a lens driving portion that drives the photographing lens portion;

an image pickup device that converts an optical image of a subject obtained via the photographing lens portion driven by the lens driving portion into an image signal;

a recording medium that records images obtained by the image pickup device;

a driving control actuator that moves the variable power lens so as to have a same magnifying power of images on the image pickup device at a plurality of focused positions when the focus lens is driven by the lens driving portion;

a controller that causes the image pickup device to continuously pick up a plurality of images at a same magnification at the plurality of focused positions and causes the recording medium to store the plurality of images continuously picked up by the image pickup device; and

an image combining processor that cuts out an image area having a predetermined contrast from each of the plurality of images at the same magnification recorded in the recording medium and generates on composite image.

2. The image pickup apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein

the image combining processor causes the image pickup device to continuously pick up the plurality of images at a timing when a maximum contrast value is detected.

3. The image pickup apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein

the controller causes the recording medium to also record respective maximum contrast values of the images continuously picked up by the image pickup device when the controller causes the recording medium to store the images continuously picked up by the image pickup device.

4. The image pickup apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a movement determining portion that determines whether or not the subject is moving toward the image pickup apparatus based on an output of the image pickup device, wherein

the plurality of focused positions are either in a direction in which the subject approaches the image pickup apparatus or in a direction in which the subject is distanced from the image pickup apparatus.

5. The image pickup apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein

the controller causes the recording medium to record the images obtained by the image pickup device, each time the movement determining portion determines that the movement of the subject is within a depth of field of the photographing lens portion.
