Abstract

A component according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a first cavity, a second cavity and a rib between the first cavity and the second cavity, the rib including a first rib surface that is substantially flat and a second rib surface that is tapered.

Claims (23)

1. A component, comprising:

an airfoil having a pressure sidewall and a suction sidewall;

a first cavity and a second cavity disposed between the pressure sidewall and the suction sidewall;

a rib separating the first cavity from the second cavity, wherein the rib is provided by a flat wall facing the first cavity parallel with a rib axis extending through the rib, a first wall facing the second cavity, and a second wall facing the second cavity, and the first wall and the second wall are transverse to the rib axis; and

an indentation in the first wall and the second wall, the indentation extending from the first wall and the second wall toward the flat wall.

2. The component as recited in claim 1 , wherein the second cavity is provided by a pressure side surface provided by the pressure sidewall and a suction side surface provided by the suction sidewall, the first wall extends from the pressure side surface, and the second wall extends from the suction side surface.

3. The component as recited in claim 1 , wherein the indentation is central to the rib.

4. The component as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first cavity is a leading edge cavity, and the second cavity is a main body cavity.

5. The component as recited in claim 4 , further comprising a trailing edge cavity, wherein the main body cavity is disposed between the leading edge cavity and the trailing edge cavity.

6. The component as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first cavity is a main body cavity, and the second cavity is a trailing edge cavity.

7. A component, comprising:

an airfoil having a pressure sidewall and a section sidewall;

a first cavity and a second cavity provided by the pressure sidewall and the suction sidewall and separated by a rib, wherein the rib is provided by a flat wall of facing the first cavity extending from the pressure sidewall to the suction sidewall and parallel with a rib axis extending through the rib, a first wall facing the second cavity extending from the pressure sidewall, and a second wall facing the second cavity extending from the suction sidewall, and the first wall and the second wall are transverse to the rib axis; and

an indentation in the first wall and the second wall, the indentation extending from the first wall and the second wall toward the flat wall.

8. The component as recited in claim 7 , wherein the first cavity is a leading edge cavity, and the second cavity is a main body cavity.

9. The component as recited in claim 8 , further comprising a trailing edge cavity, wherein the main body cavity is disposed between the leading edge cavity and the trailing edge cavity.

10. The component as recited in claim 7 , wherein the first cavity is a main body cavity, and the second cavity is a trailing edge cavity.

11. The component as recited in claim 7 , wherein the component is a turbine blade.

12. A component, comprising:

an airfoil having a pressure sidewall and a section sidewall;

a leading edge cavity and a main body cavity provided by the pressure sidewall and the suction sidewall and separated by a rib, wherein the rib is provided by a flat wall facing the leading edge cavity extending from the pressure sidewall to the suction sidewall and parallel to a rib axis extending through the rib, a first wall facing the main body cavity extending from the pressure sidewall, and a second wall facing the main body cavity extending from the suction sidewall, and the first wall and the second wall are transverse to the rib axis; and

an indentation in the first wall and the second wall, the indentation extending from the first wall and the second wall toward the flat wall.

13. The component as recited in claim 12 , wherein the main body cavity is provided by a pressure side surface provided by the pressure sidewall and a suction side surface provided by the suction sidewall, the first wall extends from the pressure side surface, and the second wall extends from the suction side surface.
