Abstract

A method includes receiving a data signal that includes a plurality of encoded frames in a first access unit, receiving a data message indicative of a similarity between a portion of a first one of the plurality of encoded frames and a portion of a non-successive second one of the plurality of encoded frames in a second access unit, and decoding the portion of the second one of the plurality of encoded frames from the portion of the first one of the plurality of encoded frames when the data signal is corrupted.

Claims (11)

1 . An apparatus comprising:

a processor; and

a memory including computer program code,

the computer program code configured to, when executed by the processor:

receive a data signal comprising a plurality of encoded video frames;

receive a data message indicative of a similarity between a portion of a first encoded video frame of the plurality of encoded video frames and a portion of a second encoded video frame of said plurality of encoded video frames, the data message indicating at least a part of the portion of the first encoded video frame used to decode the portion of the second encoded video frame; and

decode the portion of the second encoded video frame from the at least a part of the portion of the first encoded video frame in response to at least part of the portion of the second encoded video frame becoming corrupted during transmission.

2 . A method comprising:

receiving a data signal comprising a plurality of encoded video frames;

receiving a data message indicative of a similarity between a portion of a first encoded video frame of the plurality of encoded video frames and a portion of a second encoded video frame of the plurality of encoded video frames, the data message indicating at least a part of the portion of the first encoded video frame used to decode the portion of the second encoded video frame; and

decoding the portion of the second encoded video frame from the at least a part of the portion of the first encoded video frame in response to at least part of the portion of the second encoded video frame becoming corrupted during transmission.
