Abstract

A camera housing includes a humidity prevention system comprising various seals between internal components of the housing such as an external shell of the housing, a lens barrel within the external shell, a front cover of the housing, an outer front cover of the housing, and a viewing component connected to the outer front cover. A plurality of seals creates an airtight seal between the lens barrel and the front cover and between the front cover and the outer front cover. The seals create an airtight cavity within the outer front cover, the viewing component, the front cover, and the lens barrel. Additional seals can also be used to create an airtight seal between the outer front cover and the viewing component and between the external shell and the front cover, further preventing humidity from accumulating within the closed airtight space.

Claims (28)

1. A humidity prevention system in a camera system, the humidity prevention system comprising:

an external shell of the camera system including a lens barrel, the lens barrel comprising a lens;

a front cover of the camera system coupled to the external shell and coupled to the lens barrel via a first seal, the first seal creating an airtight seal between the front cover and the lens barrel;

an outer front cover of the camera system coupled to a lens window via a second seal, the second seal creating an airtight seal between the outer front cover and the lens window, the outer front cover further coupled to the front cover via a third seal, the third seal creating an airtight seal between the outer front cover and the front cover, the space between the outer front cover, the lens window, the front cover, and the lens barrel comprising an airtight cavity configured to prevent the entry of humidity into the airtight cavity; and

a fourth seal coupled to the external shell and the front cover, the fourth seal creating an airtight seal between the external shell and the front cover.

2. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the first seal, the second seal, the third seal, and the fourth seal are each selected from a group consisting of: an O-ring, an adhesive, a screw, glue, or any combination thereof.

3. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the first seal is an adhesive.

4. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the second seal is an adhesive.

5. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the third seal is an O-ring.

6. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the fourth seal is glue.

7. The humidity prevention system of claim 1 , wherein the first seal is inserted within a reciprocal cavity within a front face of the lens barrel.

8. A humidity prevention system in a camera system, the humidity prevention system comprising:

an external shell of the camera system including a lens barrel, the lens barrel coupled to a lens;

a front cover of the camera system coupled to the external shell and sealed with the lens barrel via a first seal, the first seal creating an airtight seal between the front cover and the lens barrel; and

an outer front cover of the camera system coupled to a lens window, the outer front cover further coupled to the front cover via a second seal, the second seal creating an airtight seal between the front cover and the outer front cover;

wherein the outer front cover, the viewing component, the front cover, and the lens barrel form an airtight cavity via the first seal and the second seal.

9. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , wherein the first seal and the second seal are selected from a group consisting of: an O-ring, an adhesive, a screw, glue, or any combination thereof.

10. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , wherein the first seal is an adhesive.

11. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , wherein the second seal is an O-ring.

12. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , further comprising:

a third seal coupled to the external shell and the front cover, the third seal creating an airtight seal between the external shell and the front cover.

13. The humidity prevention system of claim 12 , wherein the third seal is glue.

14. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , further comprising:

a third seal coupled to the front cover and the outer front cover, the third seal creating an airtight seal between the front cover and the outer front cover.

15. The humidity prevention system of claim 14 , wherein the third seal is glue.

16. The humidity prevention system of claim 8 , further comprising:

a third seal coupling the viewing component and the outer front cover, the third seal creating an airtight seal between the viewing component and the outer front cover.

17. The humidity prevention system of claim 16 , wherein the third seal is an adhesive.
