CONFIGURABLE DASH DISPLAY
Methods and systems for a configurable vehicle dash display are provided. Specifically, a configurable dash may comprise one or more displays that are capable of receiving input from a user. At least one of these displays may be configured to present a plurality of custom applications that, when manipulated by at least one user, are adapted to control and/or monitor functions associated with a vehicle and/or associated peripheral devices. It is anticipated that the function and appearance of the plurality of custom applications may be altered via user and/or processor input.

26 . A method of configuring a vehicle dash display, comprising:
separating a vehicle into two or more zones, wherein each zone of the two or more zones corresponds to a physical area inside the vehicle;
determining a person is within a zone of the two or more zones of the vehicle;
identifying the person within the zone of the vehicle;
identifying the zone;
determining whether the identified person has configuration settings associated with the identified zone of the vehicle;
displaying, at a first time, vehicle dash information in a first layout on a graphical user interface (“GUI”) in the zone of the vehicle, the vehicle dash information based on the configuration settings associated with the identified person and the identification of the zone, wherein the vehicle dash information comprises one or more applications, and wherein the one or more applications correspond to vehicle readouts;
receiving a first input at the GUI, wherein the first input corresponds to an instruction to alter the first layout of the vehicle dash information to a second layout of the vehicle dash information, and wherein the second layout of the vehicle dash information is different from the first layout of the vehicle dash information;
selecting, by a processor, the second layout of the vehicle dash information to display on the GUI; and
displaying, at a second time, the second layout of the vehicle dash information on the GUI.
27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the same vehicle dash information is displayed in the first and second layout.
28 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the second layout of the vehicle dash information is selected from one or more preconfigured layouts.
29 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the vehicle readouts include at least one of a speedometer, odometer, tachometer, trip meter, fuel gage, temperature gage, electrical gage, and indicators.
30 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
receiving a second input at the GUI, wherein the second input represents an instruction to alter a first display position associated with at least one application of the one or more applications;
determining, by a processor, the first display position to alter based on the second input;
altering the first display position of the at least one application based on the second input; and
displaying, the altered first display position of the at least one application as a second display position.
31 . The method of claim 30 , wherein altering the first display position further comprises:
determining, by a processor, a relative position of at least one other application of the one or more applications displayed to the GUI;
determining, by a processor, the altered first display position of the at least one application;
comparing the relative position of the at least one other application to the altered first display position of the at least one application; and
adjusting, based on rules, a position of the at least one application or the at least one other application.
32 . The method of claim 26 , wherein altering the first layout of the one or more applications to the second layout of the one or more applications includes adding at least one application to be displayed on the first GUI.
33 . The method of claim 26 , wherein altering the first layout of the one or more applications to the second layout of the one or more applications includes removing at least one application from being displayed on the first GUI.
34 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
receiving a third input at the first GUI, wherein the third input corresponds to an instruction to save the second layout in a memory; and
saving the second layout in a memory.
35 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the GUI is partitioned into two or more zones, wherein each of the two or more zones is capable of displaying the vehicle dash information.
36 . The method of claim 35 , wherein a first zone of the two or more zones is configured to display a first application of the one or more applications in the first layout, and wherein a second zone of the two or more zones is configured to display the first application of the one or more applications in the second layout.
37 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising:
receiving one or more signals sent from a plurality of sensing elements associated with a vehicle;
interpreting, by a processor, the one or more signals to determine whether an emergency event has occurred;
determining that an emergency event has occurred; and
displaying, automatically, at least one emergency identifier on the first GUI.
38 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the interpretation step further comprises:
referring to a memory, wherein the memory stores rules that define a plurality of signal conditions corresponding to an emergency event.
39 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the emergency identifier is displayed as a third layout of the one or more applications on the first GUI.
40 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the emergency identifier is displayed over at least one of the first and second layout of the one or more applications on the first GUI.
41 . The method of claim 40 , wherein an appearance of at least one of the first and second layout is altered to emphasize the display of the emergency identifier.
42 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the emergency identifier is displayed on a second GUI.
43 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, perform the method of claim 26 .
44 . A device for configuring a presentation layout of one or more vehicle applications displayed to a vehicle dash display, comprising:
a first graphical user interface (“GUI”) including a first display area;
a first input gesture area of the first display area;
a vehicle signal input/output port, wherein the vehicle signal input/output port is configured to receive and send signals to and from one or more vehicle devices;
a non-transitory computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, perform the method comprising:
separating a vehicle into two or more zones, wherein each zone of the two or more zones corresponds to a physical area inside the vehicle;
determining a person is within a zone of the two or more zones of the vehicle;
identifying the person within the zone of the vehicle;
identifying the zone;
determining whether the identified person has configuration settings associated with the identified zone of the vehicle;
displaying, at a first time, vehicle dash information in a first layout on the first GUI in the zone of the vehicle, the vehicle dash information based on the configuration settings associated with the identified person and the identification of the zone, wherein the vehicle dash information comprises one or more applications, and wherein the one or more applications correspond to vehicle readouts;
receiving a first input at the GUI, wherein the first input corresponds to an instruction to alter the first layout of the vehicle dash information to a second layout of the vehicle dash information, and wherein the second layout of the vehicle dash information is different from the first layout of the vehicle dash information;
selecting, by a processor, the second layout of the vehicle dash information to display on the GUI; and
displaying, at a second time, the second layout of the vehicle dash information on the GUI.
45 . The device of claim 44 , further comprising a second GUI including a second display area, and wherein the method further comprises:
determining a second person is within another zone of the two or more zones;
identifying the second person within the another zone;
identifying the another zone;
determining whether the identified second person has configuration settings for the identified another zone; and
displaying at least one application to a position of the first GUI or the second GUI based on the configuration settings of the second person and the identification of the another zone.
