Abstract

In one general embodiment, a system for enabling communications and conferencing between dissimilar computing devices including mobile computing devices. In another embodiment a method for enabling communications and conferencing between dissimilar computing devices including mobile computing devices. In a further embodiment, a non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions to cause one or more processors to enable communications and conferencing between dissimilar computing devices including mobile computing devices.

Claims (28)

1. A communications system, the system comprising:

at least one processor;

a memory coupled to the at least one processor, the memory storing instructions, the instructions comprising instructions which are executable by the at least one processor to cause the system to:

display a graphical user interface actuable for controlling video and audio and actuable for configuring interaction preferences, including at least one of enabling or disabling one or more endpoints associated with a particular computing device and ranking the endpoints in order of priority;

collect location information for one or more endpoints associated with the particular computing device, wherein the location information is incorporated into the ranking in order of priority;

determine whether a mobile endpoint associated with the particular computing device is co-located with a higher priority endpoint associated with the particular computing device; and

upon such determination, route incoming calls to the higher priority endpoint.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the particular computing device is associated with at least one user.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein ranking the endpoints in order of priority includes specifying that calls are to interact with multiple endpoints sequentially.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein ranking the endpoints in order of priority includes specifying that calls are to ring multiple endpoints simultaneously.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein ranking the endpoints in order of priority includes prioritizing video endpoints ahead of audio-only endpoints.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a directory listing other computing devices, including one or more endpoints associated with at least one other computing device, and to receive at least one input selecting one or more other computing devices for a conference.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to establish an optimal conference via the particular computing device and the selected one or more other computing devices, taking into account video, audio, and call options configured via the selected one or more other computing devices, including endpoint priority set via the one or more other computing devices.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions to cause the system to establish an optimal conference include instructions to cause the system to take into account geo-location information of the particular computing device and the selected one or more other computing devices.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further include instructions to cause the system to display an active conference control interface actuable to control a conference by controlling one or more aspects of one or more interactions of the conference, including muting or dropping at least one computing device interacting with the conference.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a meeting management interface selectably-actuable to create conference invitations and to receive selections of one or more conferences to join and specify a means by which the joining can occur.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a meeting management interface selectably-actuable to select one or more conferences to join by reference to context specific information about the one or more conferences, the context specific information selected from a group consisting of: time, position, participants, topic, and category of the conference.

12. A system for enabling communications between computing devices, the system comprising:

a memory coupled to at least one processor, the memory storing instructions, the instructions comprising instructions which are executable by the at least one processor to cause the system to:

display an active conference control interface comprising selectable inputs actuable to control a conference by controlling one or more aspects of one or more interactions of an active conference, including muting or dropping one or more computing devices participating in the active conference, and actuable to select a means by which one or more computing devices may join the active conference, wherein the means include video and audio-only; and

establish an optimal conference with a first computing device and one or more second computing devices taking into account video, audio, and call options configured via the one or more second computing devices including endpoint priority set via the one or more second computing devices.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein each of the one or more computing devices is associated with a different user.

14. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a record button selectable to record the active conference.

15. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a lock meeting button selectable to prevent additional participants from joining the active conference.

16. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display an add participant button selectable to add an additional participant to the active conference.

17. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions further comprise instructions to cause the system to display a content interface configured to display media content in the active conference or to enable one or more other conference participants to do so.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the content interface comprises an add-on to an existing personal information management software package.

19. The system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions to cause the system to establish an optimal conference include instructions to cause the system to take into account geo-location information of the first computing device and at least one of the one or more second computing devices.
