Abstract

A broadcast receiving apparatus includes: a digital broadcast receiver configured to receive digital broadcasting in which contents are transmitted; a network transceiver configured to execute network communication; a data string converter configured to perform a mixing process for creating a new coded data string based on a coded data string of the received contents and a coded data string acquired by the network transceiver; a digital interface configured to output the contents to external equipment; and a controller configured to determine a state of the network communication of the external equipment. The state of the network communication of the external equipment includes a first state in which the network communication is in a communicable state and a second state in which the network communication is in an uncommunicable state. In accordance with the determined state of the network communication, the digital interface performs three types of output operations.

Claims (14)

1. A broadcast receiving apparatus comprising:

a digital broadcast receiver configured to receive digital broadcasting in which contents are transmitted;

a network transceiver configured to execute network communication;

a data string converter configured to perform a mixing process for creating a new coded data string based on 1) a coded data string of the contents received by the digital broadcast receiver and 2) a coded data string acquired by the network transceiver;

a digital interface configured to output the contents to external equipment; and

a controller configured to determine a state of the network communication of the external equipment,

wherein the state of the network communication of the external equipment includes 1) a first state in which the network communication is in a communicable state and 2) a second state in which the network communication is in an uncommunicable state,

wherein in accordance with the determined state of the network communication of the external equipment, the digital interface performs three types of output operations including:

a first operation in which the external equipment supports a network communication function, in which the determined state of the network communication of the external equipment is the second state, and in which the new coded data string created based on the coded data string of the contents received by the digital broadcast receiver and the coded data string acquired by the network transceiver is output from the digital interface to the external equipment;

a second operation in which the external equipment supports the network communication function, in which the determined state of the network communication of the external equipment is the first state, and in which a coded data string not subjected to the mixing process is output from the digital interface to the external equipment; and

a third operation in which the external equipment does not support the network communication function, in which the determined state of the network communication of the external equipment is the second state, and in which the new coded data string created based on the coded data string of the contents received by the digital broadcast receiver and the coded data string acquired by the network transceiver is output from the digital interface to the external equipment,

wherein all of media transport formats of i) the new coded data string in the first operation, ii) the coded data string not subjected to the mixing process in the second operation, and iii) the new coded data string in the third operation are MMT, and

wherein a composition of contents of the coded data string not subjected to the mixing process in the second operation is different from a composition of contents of the new coded data string in the first operation and a composition of contents of the new coded data string in the third operation.

2. The broadcast receiving apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein a media transport format of the contents received by the digital broadcast receiver is the MMT.
