Abstract

A broadcast receiving apparatus includes a broadcast receiver that receives a broadcast wave of a digital broadcasting service; a separator that separates at least coded program video data, program-cooperation data, and screen layout control information, from the broadcast wave; a video decoder that decodes the coded program video data to reproduce program video information; a cooperation information generator that interprets the program-cooperation data to generate program-cooperation information; and a control unit that, when an instruction to display a given screen is input while the presentation processor divides video display region into sub-regions based on the screen layout control information, places the program video information in one of the sub-regions, places the program-cooperation information in another sub-region, and outputs the data of the video display region as the video information, outputs information of the given screen as the video information without dividing the video display region based on the screen layout control information.

Claims (17)

1. A broadcast receiving apparatus for receiving a plurality of digital broadcasting services of broadcasting systems, the broadcast receiving apparatus comprising:

a first broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast wave of a first digital broadcasting service;

a second broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast wave of a second digital broadcasting service;

a first separator configured to separate at least first coded program video data related to a first broadcasting program, first cooperation information data, and first event schedule data, from the broadcast wave received by the first broadcast receiver;

a second separator configured to separate at least second coded program video data related to a second broadcasting program and second event schedule data, from the broadcast wave received by the second broadcast receiver;

a first video decoder configured to decode the first coded program video data to reproduce first program video information;

a second video decoder configured to decode the second coded program video data to reproduce second program video information;

a network interface configured to acquire video information provided from a server device on a network in accordance with the first cooperation information data;

a memory configured to store an electronic program guide creating program that interprets the first event schedule data and the second event schedule data to create electronic program guide information;

a video synthesizer configured to select and/or superpose the first program video information, the second program video information, and the electronic program guide information to output the selected and/or superposed information as video information;

a display configured to display the video information;

an operation input interface configured to input a user instruction; and

a controller,

wherein the controller is configured to execute the electronic program guide creating program to create the electronic program guide information so that first program information of the first digital broadcasting service in a given time zone and second program information of the second digital broadcasting service in a same time zone as the given time zone are arranged next to each other, based on the first event schedule data and the second event schedule data when an instruction to display an electronic program guide screen is input to the operation input interface,

wherein the first event schedule data includes program information of a program received via the broadcast wave of the first digital broadcasting service and program information of a program received via the network from the server device, and the controller is also configured to execute the electronic program guide creating program to create the electronic program guide information so that the program information of the program received via the broadcast wave of the first digital broadcasting service in the given time zone and the program information of the program received via the network from the server device in the same time zone as the given time zone are arranged next to each other,

wherein the controller checks a network connection state of the broadcast receiving apparatus, and the electronic program guide creating program changes display status of the program information in a display area of the electronic program guide in accordance with the checked network connection state, and

wherein, when the broadcast receiving apparatus cannot access the server device via the network, the controller changes the display status of the program information in the display area of the electronic program guide so that the program information of the program received via the network from the server device is not displayed next to the program information of the program received via the broadcast wave of the first digital broadcasting service.
