determining an indicator, based on the signal level difference, of the impairment of the at least one microphone in an instance in which the signal level difference fails to satisfy the defined threshold value; and

processing at least one of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal based on the indicator.

2 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein determining whether a signal level difference satisfies the defined threshold value by determining whether a sum of samples of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal exceeds the threshold value.

3 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein processing at least one of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal based on the indicator comprises at least one of the following:

providing an indication that an impairment has been detected by causing to display a warning message;

switching functionality of the at least one impaired microphone to at least one active microphone; or

processing the at least one impaired microphone so as to compensate for the signal level difference.

4 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising identifying the at least one impaired microphone based on the signal level difference.

5 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein determining the signal level difference comprises at least one of:

analyzing the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal in frequency bands; or

analyzing a spectral balance of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal in frequency bands

6 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein determining the signal level difference further comprises summing of samples of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal over a defined period of time.

7 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein determining the signal level difference further comprises calculating power levels of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal over a defined period of time.

8 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein determining the signal level difference further comprises:

providing the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal to a low-frequency level detector, a mid-frequency level detector, a high frequency level detector, or a combination thereof;

for each frequency detector, comparing a level of frequency components of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal to determine whether they are within an acceptable range of each other; and

determining the at least one microphone is impaired based on the comparison of the level of frequency components of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal being greater than the acceptable range of each other.

9 . The method as claimed in claim 8 , wherein for each frequency detector, comparing a level of frequency components of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal further comprises:

analyzing an overall spectral balance of the level of frequency components; and

determining based on the analysis that all microphones are impaired, the analysis indicating that the level of frequency components are proportionally out of balance.

10 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising:

providing, in an instance in which the signal level difference fails to satisfy the defined threshold value, control information to adjust a signal level and a timbre of a signal processing path of the at least one first audio signal or the at least one second audio signal in order to compensate for the impairment of the at least one microphone.

11 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer code comprising one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer code configured to with the at least one processor cause the apparatus at least to:

determine at least one microphone is impaired by:

analyzing at least one first audio signal and at least one second audio signal from at least a first microphone and a second microphone, respectively; and

determining whether a signal level difference between the at least one first audio signal from the first microphone and the at least one second audio signal from the second microphone satisfies a defined threshold value, the defined threshold value indicating an acceptable signal level difference between the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal when the first and second microphones are operating correctly or as expected;

determine an indicator, based on the signal level difference, of the impairment of the at least one microphone in an instance in which the signal level difference fails to satisfy the defined threshold value; and

process at least one of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal based on the indicator.

12 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 11 , wherein determining whether a signal level difference satisfies the defined threshold value by determining whether a sum of samples of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal exceeds the threshold value.

13 . The apparatus as claimed in claim 11 , wherein processing at least one of the at least one first audio signal and the at least one second audio signal based on the indicator comprises at least one of the following:

providing an indication that an impairment has been detected by causing to display a warning message;

switching functionality of the at least one impaired microphone to at least one active microphone; or

processing the at least one impaired microphone so as to compensate for the signal level difference.
