Abstract

A transportation system for operating an automated-taxi includes a power-connection and a controller-circuit. The power-connection is used to establish an electrical-connection between an automated-taxi and a charged-battery that was brought to the automated-taxi by a client of the automated-taxi. The charged-battery provides electrical-energy to propel the automated-taxi while connected. The controller-circuit is in communication with the power-connection. The controller-circuit is configured to assess a fee for transporting the client to a destination by the automated-taxi. The fee is determined in accordance with an energy-value drawn from the charged-battery while the client is being transported.

Claims (25)

1 . A transportation system for operating an automated-taxi, said system comprising:

a power-connection used to establish an electrical-connection between an automated-taxi and a charged-battery that was brought to the automated-taxi by a client of the automated-taxi, wherein said charged-battery provides electrical-energy to propel the automated-taxi while connected; and

a controller-circuit in communication with the power-connection, said controller-circuit configured to assess a fee for transporting the client to a destination by the automated-taxi, said fee determined in accordance with an energy-value drawn from the charged-battery while the client is being transported.

2 . The system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the controller-circuit is configured to vary the fee inversely proportional to the energy-value.

3 . The system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the system includes an energy-monitor used to determine the energy-value.

4 . The system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the system includes a discharged-battery in the automated-taxi, and the discharged-battery is exchanged for the charged-battery by the client.

5 . The system in accordance with claim 4 , wherein the system includes a charging-station from which the client retrieves the charged-battery prior to boarding the automated-taxi by the client, and to which the client deposits the discharged-battery from the automate-taxi.

6 . The system in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the controller-circuit is configured to operate the automated-taxi to transport the client to the destination.

7 . A transportation system, said system comprising:

an automated-taxi comprising;

a power-connection used to establish an electrical-connection between the automated-taxi and a charged-battery that was brought to the automated-taxi by a client of the automated-taxi, wherein said charged-battery provides electrical-energy to propel the automated-taxi while connected; and

a controller-circuit in communication with the power-connection, said controller-circuit configured to assess a fee for transporting the client to a destination by the automated-taxi, said fee determined in accordance with an energy-value drawn from the charged-battery while the client is being transported.

8 . The system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein the controller-circuit is configured to vary the fee inversely proportional to the energy-value.

9 . The system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein the system includes an energy-monitor used to determine the energy-value.

10 . The system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein the system includes a discharged-battery in the automated-taxi, and the discharged-battery is exchanged for the charged-battery by the client.

11 . The system in accordance with claim 10 , wherein the system includes a charging-station where the client deposits the discharged-battery from the automate-taxi, and from which the client retrieves the charged-battery prior to boarding the automated-taxi by the client.

12 . The system in accordance with claim 7 , wherein the controller-circuit is configured to operate the automated-taxi to transport the client to the destination.

13 . A controller-circuit for an automated-taxi, said controller-circuit comprising:

a power-connection used to establish an electrical-connection between an automated-taxi and a charged-battery that was brought to the automated-taxi by a client of the automated-taxi, wherein said charged-battery provides electrical-energy to propel the automated-taxi while connected; and

a processor in communication with the power-connection, said processor configured to assess a fee for transporting the client to a destination by the automated-taxi, said fee determined in accordance with an energy-value drawn from the charged-battery while the client is being transported.

14 . The controller-circuit in accordance with claim 13 , wherein the processor is configured to vary the fee inversely proportional to the energy-value.

15 . The controller-circuit in accordance with claim 13 , wherein the controller-circuit includes an energy-monitor used to determine the energy-value.

16 . The controller-circuit in accordance with claim 13 , wherein the controller-circuit includes a discharged-battery in the automated-taxi, and the discharged-battery is exchanged for the charged-battery by the client.

17 . The controller-circuit in accordance with claim 16 , wherein the controller-circuit includes a charging-station where the client deposits the discharged-battery from the automate-taxi, and from which the client retrieves the charged-battery prior to boarding the automated-taxi by the client.

18 . The controller-circuit in accordance with claim 13 , wherein the processor is configured to operate the automated-taxi to transport the client to the destination.
