Claims (33)

1 . An absorbent article comprising:

a chassis comprising an outer layer, an absorbent layer, and an inner layer, the chassis further comprising:

a first chassis portion comprising an attachment portion,

a second chassis portion comprising a first receiving portion comprising a cohesive material, and a second receiving portion comprising a cohesive material, and

a crotch portion extending between the first and second chassis portions; and

a rear portion connected with chassis at the attachment portion, the rear portion comprising a first side portion attached to a first side of the second chassis portion to form a first leg opening and a second side attached to a second side of the second chassis portion to form a second leg opening;

wherein the first side portion is separable from the second chassis portion and is reconnectable with the second chassis portion by overlapping the first side portion with the cohesive material of the first receiving portion; and

wherein the second side portion is separable from the second chassis portion and is reconnectable with the second chassis portion by overlapping the second side portion with the cohesive material of the second receiving portion.

2 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first side portion is separable from the second chassis portion by tearing the material of the first side portion.

3 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , the first side portion is separable from the second chassis portion by severing a bond between the first side portion and the second chassis portion.

4 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first and second side portions are extensible.

5 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the rear portion is extensible.

6 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the chassis has a substantially rectangular outer perimeter.

7 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the chassis is an hourglass shape.

8 . The absorbent article of claim 1 , wherein the first receiving portion and the second receiving portion each comprise sizing indicators.

9 . The absorbent article of claim 10 , wherein the sizing indicator comprises a perforation.

10 . The absorbent article of claim 10 , wherein the sizing indicator comprises a visual indicia.

11 . The absorbent article of claim 10 , wherein the first securement portion sizing indicator is complementary to the second securement portion sizing indicator.

12 . The absorbent article of claim 10 , wherein the first securement portion sizing indicator is substantially symmetrical to the second side panel sizing indicator.

13 . An absorbent article comprising:

a chassis comprising an outer layer, an absorbent layer and an inner layer, the chassis further comprising:

a first portion having a first side longitudinal edge and a second side longitudinal edge,

a second portion having a first side longitudinal edge and a second side longitudinal edge, wherein the second portion comprises a first front securement portion and a second front securement portion extending transverse to the second portion and opposite each other; and

a crotch portion extending between the first and second portions, wherein the crotch portion comprises a portion of the absorbent layer;

a first rear securement portion comprising a mechanical fastener and extending transverse to a first side portion of a rear portion;

a second rear securement portion comprising a mechanical fastener and extending transverse to a second side portion of the rear portion;

wherein the first rear securement portion couples to the first front securement portion; and

wherein the second rear securement portion couples to the second front securement portion.

14 . The absorbent article of claim 13 , wherein the mechanical fastener is hook and loop.

15 . The absorbent article of claim 13 , wherein the chassis and the rear portion are connected by engagement of mechanical fasteners of the first and second front securement portions with the mechanical fasteners of the first and second rear securement portions.

16 . The absorbent article of claim 13 , wherein the connected first and the second rear securement portions and the first and the second front securement portions form a waist opening and a first and a second leg opening.

17 . The absorbent article of claim 13 , wherein the first and second front securement portions are bonded to the second portion of the chassis.

18 . The absorbent article of claim 17 , wherein the one or more bonds comprise bonds formed from one or more bond type from the group comprising adhesive, welding, ultrasonic bonding and mechanical attachment.
