Abstract

According to various embodiments, there is provided a toner composition and a developer. The toner composition includes toner particles including a resin, a colorant, a charge control agent, and a surface additive applied to a surface of the toner particles. The surface additive includes strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ), silica (SiO 2 ), silicon tetrachloride (SiCl 4 ) and a charge control agent.

Claims (32)

1. A toner composition comprising:

toner particles comprising;

a resin;

a colorant; and

a surface additive applied to a surface of the toner particles, the surface additive comprising strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ), silica (SiO 2 ), silicon tetrachloride (SiCl 4 ) and a metal charge control agent.

2. The toner composition of claim 1 , further comprising a wax.

3. The toner composition of claim 1 , further comprising a coagulant.

4. The toner composition of claim 1 , further comprising a flow additive.

5. The toner composition of claim 1 , wherein the surface additive is present in an amount of from about 0.2 parts per hundred (pph) to about 1.1 pph based of the total weight of the toner composition.

6. The toner composition of claim 1 further comprising a surfactant.

7. The toner composition of claim 1 , wherein the metal charge control agent comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, aluminum, chromium, calcium and iron.

8. The toner composition of claim 1 , wherein the colorant is present in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 35% by weight of the toner.

9. The toner composition of claim 1 , wherein the metal charge control agent comprises 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylic acid zinc salt.

10. A developer comprising:

a toner composition comprising;

toner particles;

a colorant; and

a surface additive applied to a surface of the toner particles, the surface additive comprising strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ), silica (SiO 2 ), silicon tetrachloride (SiCl 4 ) and a metal charge control agent; and

a toner carrier.

11. The developer of claim 10 , wherein the toner composition is an emulsion aggregation toner composition.

12. The developer of claim 10 , wherein the surface additive is present in an amount of from about 0.2 parts per hundred (pph) to about 1.1 pph based on the total weight of the toner composition.

13. A toner composition comprising:

toner particles comprising;

a resin; and

a surface additive applied to a surface of the toner particles, the surface additive comprising strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ), silica (SiO 2 ), silicon tetrachloride (SiCl 4 ) and a metal charge control agent.

14. The toner composition of claim 13 , further comprising a wax.

15. The toner composition of claim 13 , further comprising a coagulant.

16. The toner composition of claim 13 , wherein the metal charge control agent comprises 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylic acid zinc salt.

17. The toner composition of claim 13 , further comprising a flow additive.

18. The toner composition of claim 13 , wherein the surface additive is present in an amount of from about 0.2 parts per hundred (pph) to about 1.1 pph based of the total weight of the toner composition.

19. The toner composition of claim 13 , further comprising a surfactant.

20. The toner composition of claim 13 , wherein the metal charge control agent comprises a metal selected from the group consisting of zinc, aluminum, calcium, chromium and iron.
