Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to perform media device asset qualification are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, and at least one processor to execute instructions to at least identify a first set of candidate media device assets for disqualification, the candidate media device assets including A) a signature and B) a media identifier that identifies media, generate a hash table using a second set of the candidate media device assets, determine one or more counts of matches between C) a first signature and a first media identifier of a first candidate media device asset of the second set and D) respective signatures and media identifiers of multiple ones of the second set using the hash table, the multiple ones of the second set not including the first candidate media device asset, and load the first signature into a reference database as a reference signature.

determine one or more counts of matches between C) a first signature and a first media identifier of the first candidate media device asset of the second set and D) respective signatures and media identifiers of multiple ones of the second set using the hash table, the multiple ones of the second set not including the first candidate media device asset; and

load the first signature into the reference database as a reference signature based on the one or more counts of the matches.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to:

determine that a second signature of a media device asset from a media device corresponds to the first signature based on the hash table; and

credit presentation of the media by the media device based on the determination.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to:

after a determination that the second candidate media device asset is a duplicate of a syndicated media device asset in the reference database, increment a counter corresponding to the syndicated media device asset; and

discard the second candidate media device asset.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the at least one processor is to credit a number of accesses of the media by a value of the counter.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to:

after a determination that the second candidate media device asset is a duplicate of the proprietary media asset in the reference database, increment a counter corresponding to the proprietary media asset;

discard the second candidate media device asset; and

credit a number of accesses of the media by a value of the counter.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to disqualify the second candidate media device asset from loading into the reference database after an identification of a jump in a timestamp of the second candidate media device asset.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is to disqualify the second candidate media device asset from loading into the reference database after an identification of an incorrect language in a second media identifier of the second candidate media device asset.

8. At least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to at least:

after a determination that a first candidate media device asset is a syndicated duplicate of a proprietary media asset, replace the proprietary media asset in a reference database with the first candidate media device asset, the proprietary media asset to be provided by a first audience measurement entity client;

identify a first set of candidate media device assets for disqualification from loading into the reference database, the candidate media device assets generated in response to respective presentations of media, the candidate media device assets including A) a signature and B) a media identifier that identifies the media, the first set of candidate media device assets including the first candidate media device asset and a second candidate media device asset, the second candidate media device asset associated with a second audience measurement entity client different from the first audience measurement entity client;

generate a hash table using a second set of the candidate media device assets, the first set different from the second set;

determine one or more counts of matches between C) a first signature and a first media identifier of the first candidate media device asset of the second set and D) respective signatures and media identifiers of multiple ones of the second set using the hash table, the multiple ones of the second set not including the first candidate media device asset; and

load the first signature into the reference database as a reference signature based on the one or more counts of the matches.

9. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to:

determine that a second signature of a media device asset from a media device corresponds to the first signature based on the hash table; and

credit presentation of the media by the media device based on the determination.

10. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to:

after a determination that the second candidate media device asset is a duplicate of a syndicated media device asset in the reference database, increment a counter corresponding to the syndicated media device asset; and

discard the second candidate media device asset.

11. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to credit a number of accesses of the media by a value of the counter.

12. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to:

after a determination that the second candidate media device asset is a duplicate of the proprietary media asset in the reference database, increment a counter corresponding to the proprietary media asset;

discard the second candidate media device asset; and

credit a number of accesses of the media by a value of the counter.

13. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to disqualify the second candidate media device asset from loading into the reference database after an identification of a jump in a timestamp of the second candidate media device asset.

14. The at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions are to cause the at least one processor to disqualify the second candidate media device asset from loading into the reference database after an identification of an incorrect language in a second media identifier of the second candidate media device asset.

15. A method comprising:

after a determination that a first candidate media device asset is a syndicated duplicate of a proprietary media asset, replacing the proprietary media asset in a reference database with the first candidate media device asset, the proprietary media asset to be provided by a first audience measurement entity client;
