Abstract

Disclosed herein is a hand held tool to assist in modifying screens for use with modular gutter guard systems. The hand held tool is a water management feature forming tool that is arranged to engage with a mesh screen and main body of a gutter guard system to form raised sections and recessed sections in the screen. These raised and recessed sections assist in managing the flow of rainwater across the screen. The water management feature forming tool includes a roller with a plurality of raised features along the surface of the roller. The raised features are sized and arranged to correspond to the physical structure of the main body of the gutter guard system so that when the roller is rolled along the screen and main body combination, the engagement of the raised features and the structure of the main body forms raised and recessed sections in the screen.

Claims (56)

1 . A water management feature forming tool system, comprising:

a first roller including:

a cylindrical body with an outer surface;

a plurality of raised features located on the outer surface, where each raised feature is arranged to correspond with a structure feature of a main body of a gutter guard system; and

a central passage through the cylindrical body; and

a handle including:

a frame with a first end and a second end;

a grip attached to the first end of the frame; and

a roller cage attached to the second end of the frame.

2 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein when the roller is assembled with the handle, the roller cage is positioned within the central passage of the roller.

3 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 2 , wherein when the roller is assembled with the handle, the roller rotates about the handle.

4 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is diamond shaped.

5 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is semi-oval shaped.

6 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is oval shaped.

7 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is truncated key-hole shaped.

8 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is circular shaped.

9 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is key-hole shaped.

10 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of raised features is u-shaped.

11 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 1 , wherein the first roller is less than three inches in width.

12 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 11 , comprising a second roller, wherein a width of the second roller is less than four inches, but greater than the width of the first roller.

13 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 12 , comprising a third roller, wherein a width of the second roller is less than five inches, but greater than the width of the second roller.

14 . The water management feature forming tool system of claim 13 , comprising a fourth roller, wherein a width of the fourth roller is less than six inches, but greater than the width of the third roller.

15 . A water management feature forming system, comprising:

a water management feature forming tool, comprising:

a roller including:

a cylindrical body with an outer surface;

a plurality of raised features located on the outer surface, where each raised feature is arranged to correspond with a structure feature of a main body of a gutter guard system; and

a central passage through the cylindrical body; and

a handle including:

a frame with a first end and a second end;

a grip attached to the first end of the frame; and

a roller cage attached to the second end of the frame; and

a template comprising:

a plurality of apertures; and

a plurality of structural members.

16 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is diamond shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one diamond shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

17 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is semi-oval shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one semi-oval shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

18 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is oval shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one oval shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

19 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is a truncated key-hole shape; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one truncated key-hole aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

20 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is circular shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one circular shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

21 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is key-hole shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one key-hole shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.

22 . The water management feature forming system of claim 15 , wherein:

at least one of the plurality of raised features of the roller is u-shaped; and

the plurality of structural members of the template form at least one u-shaped aperture corresponding to the at least one of the plurality of raised features.
