Abstract

A golf shoe with an upper and a sole assembly connected to the upper. The sole assembly may include a midsole and an outsole. In some cases, a custom insert may be integrated with or embedded in the sole assembly. In some cases, the custom insert may include an elastic member configured as a spring element.

Claims (29)

1. A golf shoe, comprising:

an upper; and

a sole assembly connected to the upper, the sole assembly comprising:

a midsole;

an outsole; and

an elastic member integrated with at least one of the midsole or outsole, wherein the elastic member comprises a superior portion, an inferior portion, and at least one curved portion extending between the superior portion and the inferior portion, wherein the superior portion of the elastic member comprises:

(i) a first member and a second member extending towards a posterior end of the sole assembly, wherein the first and second members are spaced apart with a gap therebetween to facilitate a movement of the first and second members relative to each other or a movement of the first or second member relative to another portion of the elastic member, and

(ii) a third member and a fourth member extending towards an anterior end of the sole assembly, wherein the third member and the fourth member converge at or near the anterior end of the sole assembly, and

wherein the inferior portion of the elastic member comprises (i) a first set of arms extending across a forefoot region of the sole assembly and (ii) a second set of arms extending from a rearfoot region of the sole assembly and across a midfoot region of the sole assembly to the forefoot region of the sole assembly,

wherein the second set of arms is configured to extend upwards towards a central portion of the superior portion of the elastic member to form a U-shaped or V-shaped profile that enhances an elastic response of the midfoot region of the sole assembly.

2. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the gap is configured to promote flexing of the elastic member along an axis extending between the first member and the second member.

3. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the gap is configured to provide a controlled torsional response for the elastic member during a golf swing.

4. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the at least one curved portion comprises an anterior curved portion extending between an anterior end of the superior portion and an anterior end of the inferior portion.

5. The golf shoe of claim 4 , wherein the at least one curved portion further comprises at least one posterior curved portion extending between a posterior end of the superior portion and a posterior end of the inferior portion.

6. The golf shoe of claim 5 , wherein the superior portion and the inferior portion are integrally formed with the anterior curved portion and the at least one posterior curved portion.

7. The golf shoe of claim 5 , wherein the first set of arms is configured to extend from the anterior curved portion towards a break region located within the forefoot region of the sole assembly.

8. The golf shoe of claim 7 , wherein the first set of arms is configured to converge towards the anterior curved portion of the elastic member.

9. The golf shoe of claim 7 , wherein the second set of arms is configured to extend from the at least one posterior curved portion towards the break region.

10. The golf shoe of claim 9 , wherein the at least one posterior curved portion comprises a first posterior curved portion and a second posterior curved portion connecting (i) the second set of arms of the inferior portion and (ii) the first and second members of the superior portion.

11. The golf shoe of claim 10 , wherein the first posterior curved portion and the second posterior curved portion are remotely spaced to maintain the gap between the first and second members.

12. The golf shoe of claim 11 , wherein the gap extends between the first and second posterior curved portions to divide and separate the posterior ends of both the superior and inferior portions of the elastic member.

13. The golf shoe of claim 7 , wherein the break region is disposed between the first set of arms and the second set of arms to divide or bisect the inferior portion of the elastic member.

14. The golf shoe of claim 7 , wherein the break region provides an axis along which the elastic member is configured to bend or flex.

15. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the U-shaped or V-shaped profile forms a shank region of the inferior portion of the elastic member.

16. The golf shoe of claim 15 , wherein the U-shaped profile is formed by two or more sides or surfaces of the inferior portion that extend towards the superior portion of the elastic member to form a concave curvature.

17. The golf shoe of claim 15 , wherein the V-shaped profile is formed by two or more sides or surfaces of the inferior portion that extend towards the superior portion of the elastic member to form a convex angle.

18. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the elastic member comprises a molded carbon or composite component with one or more curved fibers or strands.

19. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the inferior portion of the elastic member comprises a break region disposed entirely within the forefoot region of the sole assembly.

20. The golf shoe of claim 1 , wherein the second set of arms comprises a first arm and a second arm that are detached or decoupled from each other.
