Abstract

A toner particle adapted for use in electrostatic image formation, comprising a polymer and flakes of metal dispersed in the polymer.

Claims (15)

1. A toner particle adapted for use in electrostatic image formation comprising:

a polymer, wherein the polymer is a low molecular weight ionomer; and

flakes of gold or silver dispersed in the polymer,

wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 4 micrometers.

2. A toner particle according to claim 1 , wherein flakes of gold are dispersed in the polymer.

3. A toner particle to claim 1 , wherein flakes of silver are dispersed in the polymer.

4. A liquid toner comprising: a plurality of toner particles adapted for use in electrostatic image formation comprising; a polymer; and flakes of gold or silver dispersed in the polymer, wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 4 micrometers; and a carrier liquid.

5. A liquid toner according to claim 4 , wherein flakes of gold are dispersed in the polymer.

6. A liquid toner according to claim 4 , wherein flakes of silver are dispersed in the polymer.

7. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 4 .

8. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 5 .

9. A method of printing utilizing a liquid toner according to claim 6 .

10. A liquid toner according to claim 4 wherein the particles have a median particle size of between 8.2 and 18.6 microns.

11. A toner particle according to claim 1 wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 6 micrometers.

12. A toner particle according to claim 4 wherein the flakes of gold or silver have a dimension greater than 6 micrometers.
