Compounds useful for inhibiting Chk1
Aryl- and heteroaryl-substituted urea compounds useful in the treatment of diseases and conditions related to DNA damage or lesions in DNA replication are disclosed. Methods of making the compounds, and their use as therapeutic agents, for example, in treating cancer and other diseases characterized by defects in DNA replication, chromosome segregation, or cell division also are disclosed.
1. A method of inhibiting checkpoint kinase 1 in a cell comprising a step of contacting the cell with a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula

11. The method of claim 5 wherein the radiotherapeutic agent is selected from the group consisting of gamma-radiation, X-ray radiation, ultraviolet light, visible light, infrared radiation, and microwave radiation.

The method of claim 5 wherein the condition is a cancer selected from the group consisting of a colorectal cancer, a head and neck cancer, a pancreatic cancer, a breast cancer, a gastric cancer, a bladder cancer, a vulvar cancer, a leukemia, a lymphoma, a melanoma, a renal cell carcinoma, an ovarian cancer, a brain tumor, an osteosarcoma, and a lung carcinoma.
