Abstract

A hydraulic servo assembly includes a piston slidably disposed within a housing and a pin extending from the piston. The pin is interconnected with a servo link rod of the ETRS system. A port enables inlet of hydraulic fluid to induce movement of the piston and the pin from a first position to a second position to pull the servo link rod thereby shifting the transmission range to the out-of-park position. When in the first position the pin biases a forward-reverse enable (FRE) valve of the ETRS system in a first position. When in the second position a bias force of the pin is relieved from the FRE valve enabling the FRE valve to shift to a second position.

Claims (23)

1. A hydraulic servo assembly for implementation with an electronic transmission range selection (ETRS) system that shifts a transmission range between a park position and an out-of-park position, comprising:

a piston slidably disposed within a housing;

a pin extending from said piston, said pin interconnected with a servo link rod of the ETRS system; and

a port enabling inlet of hydraulic fluid to induce movement of said piston and said pin from a first position to a second position to pull said servo link rod thereby shifting said transmission range to said out-of-park position.

2. The hydraulic servo assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a spring that biases said piston and said pin in said first position.

3. The hydraulic servo assembly of claim 2 , wherein said spring is disposed between said piston and a cap.

4. The hydraulic servo assembly of claim 1 , wherein in said first position said pin biases a forward-reverse enable (FRE) valve of said ETRS system in a first position.

5. The hydraulic servo assembly of claim 4 , wherein when in said second position a bias force of said pin is relieved from said FRE valve enabling said FRE valve to shift to a second position.

6. An electronic transmission range selection (ETRS) system for shifting a transmission range of a transmission, comprising:

a park servo valve movable between a first position to inhibit a first flow of pressurized fluid and a second position to enable said first flow of pressurized fluid;

a hydraulic servo assembly movable between a first position and a second position based on said first flow of pressurized fluid, said hydraulic servo assembly comprising:

a piston slidably disposed within a housing;

a pin extending from said piston; and

a port enabling inlet of said first flow of pressurized fluid to induce movement of said piston and said pin from a first position to a second position; and

an actuator arm interconnected to said hydraulic servo assembly, wherein when said hydraulic servo assembly moves to said second position said actuator arm shifts said transmission range from a park position to an out-of-park position.

7. The ETRS system of claim 1 , wherein said hydraulic servo assembly further comprises a spring that biases said piston and said pin in said first position.

8. The ETRS system of claim 7 , wherein said spring is disposed between said piston and a cap.

9. The ETRS system of claim 6 , wherein in said first position said pin biases a forward-reverse enable (FRE) valve in a first position.

10. The ETRS system of claim 9 , wherein when in said second position a bias force of said pin is relieved from said FRE valve enabling said FRE valve to shift to a second position.

11. The ETRS system of claim 6 , further comprising a park servo valve solenoid that manipulates a second flow of pressurized fluid to move said park servo valve from said first position to said second position based on an electric signal.

12. The ETRS system of claim 6 , further comprising a detent lever assembly interconnected to said hydraulic servo assembly by a link rod, wherein movement of said hydraulic servo assembly to said second position induces rotation of said detent lever assembly pulling said actuator arm to shift said transmission range to said out-of-park position.

13. The ETRS system of claim 12 , wherein said detent lever assembly is manually rotatable to pull said actuator arm to shift said transmission range to said out-of-park position.

14. The ETRS system of claim 6 , further comprising a park solenoid that selectively retains said transmission range in said out-of-park position.
