Abstract

Disclosed are novel quinoline compounds of formula (I), processes for their preparation, compositions containing them and their use in the treatment of CNS disorders.

Claims (12)

1. A compound having the formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. A compound which is 3-phenylsulfonyl-8-piperazin-1-yl-quinoline.

3. A method of treating a cognitive memory disorder which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, according to claim 1 to a human in need thereof, wherein the cognitive memory disorder is selected from age related cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment, and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia.

4. A method of treating a cognitive memory disorder which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 2 to a human in need thereof, wherein the cognitive memory disorder is selected from age related cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment, and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia.

5. A crystalline form of the compound according to claim 2 , wherein said crystalline form provides an X-ray powder diffraction pattern substantially in accordance with FIG. 6 .

6. A crystalline form of the compound according to claim 2 , wherein said crystalline form provides a Raman spectrum substantially in accordance with FIG. 5 .

7. A crystalline form of the compound according to claim 2 , wherein said crystalline form provides an infra red spectrum substantially in accordance with FIG. 4 .

8. A method of treating Alzheimers disease comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, according to claim 1 to a human in need thereof.

9. A method of treating Alzheimers disease comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of the compound according to claim 2 to a human in need thereof.

10. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, according to claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

11. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound according to claim 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
