Abstract

A method and system for generating an image display plan is provided. In one embodiment, a planning system allows a user to create a display plan that specifies a sequence of images that are to be displayed and how the images are to be displayed. The planning system allows a user to specify different versions of the plan for different aspect ratios. When displaying the image, the planning system may display multiple viewports simultaneously on the image, one for each of the different aspect ratios. The planning system may allow the multiple viewports to be moved around and resized as a unit maintaining a common center point for the viewports.

Claims (43)

1 . A method in a computer system for generating a display plan, the method comprising:

for each image of a sequence of images to be displayed as part of the display plan,

storing in the display plan an identification of the image;

storing in the display plan a specification of a viewport of the image to be displayed;

storing in the display plan a display time for display the image;

storing in the display plan transition information for transitioning between the image and an adjacent image; and

storing in the display plan panning information for moving the viewport around the image.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the display plan is in an XML format.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the transition information includes type of transition.

4 . The method of claim 3 wherein the type of transition is cross fade.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the transition information includes time of transition.

6 . The method of claim 1 including storing in the display plan background information.

7 . The method of claim 1 including storing in the display plan credit information.

8 . The method of claim 1 including storing in the display plan group information.

9 . The method of claim 1 wherein the specification of the viewport includes an indication of aspect ratio.

10 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information includes pan time.

11 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information includes locations and sizes of a start and end viewport of the pan.

12 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information specifies a pan path.

13 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information specifies a pan speed function.

14 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information specifies a zoom speed function.

15 . The method of claim 1 wherein the panning information specifies a zoom size function.

16 . A computer-readable medium containing a display plan, comprising:

for each image of a sequence of images to be displayed as part of the display plan,

an identification of the image;

a specification of viewport for the image;

a display mode for the image; and

a time associated with the display mode.

17 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the display plan is in an XML format.

18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the display modes for images include pan, transition, and display.

19 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode is transition, the display plan includes an indication of the type of the transition.

20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 19 wherein the type of transition is cross fade.

21 . The computer-readable medium of claim 19 wherein the time indicates time of transition.

22 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 including background information for an image.

23 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 including credit information for an image.

24 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 including group information for a group of images.

25 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the specification of the viewport includes an indication of aspect ratio.

26 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the display mode for an image is pan.

27 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, the time is pan time.

28 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, including locations and sizes of a start and end viewport of the pan.

29 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, including a pan path function.

30 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, including a pan speed function.

31 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, including a zoom speed function.

32 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein when the display mode for an image is pan, including a zoom size function.
