The present invention relates, in general, to perioperative bleeding and, in particular, to methods of identifying individuals at risk of perioperative bleeding. The present invention relates, in general, to perioperative stroke and, in particular, to methods of identifying individuals at risk of perioperative stroke.
1. A method of identifying a Caucasian patient at risk of perioperative or periprocedure renal dysfunction comprising assaying DNA from said patient for a -572C polymorphism in the interleukin-6 (IL6) gene and an 842C polymorphism in the angiotensinogen (AGT) gene, wherein detection of the IL6-572C and the AGT 842C polymorphisms in the DNA of said patient is indicative that said patient is at risk of perioperative or periprocedure renal dysfunction.
