Abstract

A method for providing health care service to a patient includes the steps of: providing an apparatus for receiving a patient in a resting position; suspending an electronic display above the apparatus with the patient received therein in a resting position; and adjustably positioning the suspended electronic display whereby the electronic display may be conveniently viewed by the patient in the resting position in the apparatus while receiving health care service. The adjustably positioning includes moving, in combination, the suspended electronic display along a first axis, along a second axis, and along a third axis, each of the first, second, and third axes being orthogonal to each other.

Claims (27)

1 . A method for providing health care service to a patient, comprising the steps of,

(a) providing an apparatus for receiving a patient in a resting position,

(b) suspending an electronic display above said provided apparatus with the patient received therein in a resting position, and

(c) adjustably positioning said suspended electronic display whereby said electronic display may be conveniently viewed by the patient in the resting position in said apparatus while receiving health care service, said adjustably positioning including moving, in combination, said suspended electronic display,

(i) along a first axis,

(ii) along a second axis, and

(iii) along a third axis, each of the first, second, and third axes being orthogonal to each other.

2 . An electronic display assembly for viewing by a person in a resting position, comprising,

(a) a pivot arm pivotable about a pivot axis,

(b) an electronic display coupled to said pivot arm and adjustably positionable about said pivot axis, and

(c) a counterweight coupled to said pivot arm opposing said electronic display about said pivot point.

3 . The electronic display assembly of claim 2 , wherein said counterweight has a greater mass than said electronic display.

4 . The electronic display assembly of claim 3 , wherein said counterweight is located closer to said pivot point than said electronic display.

5 . The electronic display assembly of claim 2 , wherein said counterweight has a moment about said pivot point within an order of magnitude of a moment of said electronic display about said pivot point.

6 . The electronic display assembly of claim 2 , further comprising a carriage movable along a translation axis, wherein said pivot arm is coupled to said carriage.

7 . The electronic display assembly of claim 6 , wherein said pivot axis remains non-orthogonal to said translation axis through a range of adjustable positioning of said electronic display.

8 . The electronic display assembly of claim 6 , wherein said electronic display is suspended from, and is disposed below, said carriage.

9 . The electronic display assembly of claim 6 , wherein said carriage is supported from a ceiling.

10 . The electronic display assembly of claim 2 , further comprising an apparatus for receiving a person in a resting position, wherein said carriage is suspended above said apparatus.

11 . The electronic display assembly of claim 10 , wherein said apparatus is a medical support apparatus for a patient.

12 . The electronic display assembly of claim 11 , wherein said apparatus is a dental chair.

13 . The electronic display assembly of claim 11 , wherein said apparatus is an operating table.

14 . The electronic display assembly of claim 10 , wherein said apparatus comprises a bed.

15 . The electronic display assembly of claim 10 , wherein said apparatus comprises a chair.

16 . The electronic display assembly of claim 10 , wherein said apparatus comprises a recliner.

17 . A method for providing health care service to a patient, comprising utilizing said electronic display assembly of claim 2 to present video to the patient in a resting position while the patient is receiving health care service.

18 . A method for providing dental healthcare to a patient, comprising utilizing said electronic display assembly of claim 2 to present video to the patient in a resting position while the patient is receiving dental healthcare.
