Novel Polypeptide Hormone Phosphatonin
The present invention relates to a novel human protein called phosphatonin, and isolated polynucleotides encoding this protein. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant methods for producing this human protein. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating disorders related to this novel human protein.

32 . The polynucleotide of claim 31 , which is DNA.
33 . The polynucleotide of claim 31 , which is RNA.
34 . The polynucleotide of claim 31 , wherein the polynucleotide encodes an amino acid sequence with 90% or more amino acid sequence homology to an amino acid sequence chosen from SEQ ID NO:2 and SEQ ID NO:27.
35 . A polynucleotide which hybridizes with the polynucleotide of claim 31 .
36 . A vector comprising a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphatonin activity.
37 . The vector of claim 36 , wherein the polypeptide is DNA.
38 . The vector of claim 36 , wherein the polypeptide is RNA.
39 . The vector as claimed in claim 36 , wherein the polynucleotide encodes an amino acid sequence with 90% or more amino acid sequence homology to an amino acid sequence chosen from SEQ ID NO:2 and SEQ ID NO:27.
40 . The vector as claimed in claim 36 , wherein the polynucleotide hybridizes with a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity and wherein the polypeptide itself has phosphotonin activity.
41 . A host cell having operatively inserted therein a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphatonin activity.
42 . The host cell as claimed in claim 41 , wherein the polynucleotide is DNA.
43 . The host cell as claimed in claim 41 , wherein the polynucleotide is RNA.
44 . The host cell as claimed in claim 41 , wherein the polynucleotide encodes an amino acid sequence with 90% or more amino acid sequence homology to an amino acid sequence chosen from SEQ ID NO:2 and SEQ ID NO:27.
45 . The host cell as claimed in claim 41 , wherein the polynucleotide hybridizes to an isolated polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity.
46 . A process for producing a polypeptide having phosphotonin activity, comprising:
providing a host cell having operatively inserted therein a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity;
culturing the host cell; and
recovering a polypeptide encoded by the polynucleotide wherein the recovered polypeptide has phosphotonin activity.
47 . A nucleic acid molecule comprising at least 15 nucleotides, wherein the nucleic acid molecule hybridizes specifically with a polynucleotide which encodes a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity or with a polynucleotide complementary strand thereof.
48 . An isolated regulatory sequence of a promoter regulating the expression of a nucleotide molecule comprising a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity.
49 . A recombinant DNA molecule comprising a regulatory sequence of a promoter regulating the expression of a nucleic acid molecule comprising a polynucleotide encoding a biologically active polypeptide having phosphotonin activity.
