Abstract

The present invention relates, in general, to a method of modulating physiological and pathological processes and, in particular, to a method of modulating cellular levels of oxidants and thereby processes in which such oxidants are a participant. The invention also relates to compounds and compositions suitable for use in such methods.

Claims (9)

1. A compound having the formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. A compound having the formula:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

3. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 and an excipient.

4. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 2 and an excipient.

5. A method of treating diabetes mellitus Type I or diabetes mellitus Type II in a subject, said method comprising the step of:

administering an effective amount of a composition including at least one compound having the formula

or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
