Method of displaying contact information

1. A method of displaying contact information on a mobile communication device, the method comprising:

storing statistical information pertaining to communications between the mobile communication device and a plurality of contacts, wherein the mobile communication device is one of a plurality of communication devices to which the plurality of contacts have been distributed;

displaying, on the mobile communication device, a plurality of output formats for the plurality of contacts, wherein the plurality of output formats are based on the stored statistical information;

receiving an indication of a desired output format corresponding to a particular type of the stored statistical information and a selection of a group of contacts from the plurality of contacts for display, the stored statistical information including a total number of communications with each contact and a total length of time of the total number of communications during the life of the mobile communication device, the number being updated in response to a communication between the mobile communication device and a respective contact; and

displaying, on the mobile communication device, the contact information corresponding to the selected group of contacts ordered by the particular type of the stored statistical information.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing phone call frequency information.

3. The method of claim 2 , where storing phone call frequency information includes storing information related to incoming phone calls.

4. The method of claim 2 , where storing phone call frequency information includes storing information related to outgoing phone calls.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing communication time stamp information.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing information indicating the length of a communication with a contact.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing statistical information pertaining to communications includes storing statistical information pertaining to at least one telephone call.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communications between the mobile communication device and a plurality of contacts includes at least one text message.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communications between the mobile communication device and a plurality of contacts includes at least one email.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein storing statistical information pertaining to communications includes storing statistical information pertaining to at least one two-way radio communication.

11. A method of displaying contact information on a mobile communication device, the method comprising:

storing statistical information pertaining to communications between the mobile communication device and a plurality of contacts, wherein the mobile communication device is one of a plurality of communication devices to which the plurality of contacts have been distributed;

determining a plurality of output formats for the plurality of contacts by analyzing the stored statistical information pertaining to the plurality of contacts;

displaying, on the mobile communication device, the plurality of output formats for the plurality of contacts;

receiving, from a user, an indication of a desired output format corresponding to a particular type of the stored statistical information and an indication of a selection of a group of contacts from the plurality of contacts for display, the stored statistical information including a total number of communications with each contact and a total length of time of the total number of communications during the life of the mobile communication device, the number being updated in response to a communication between the mobile communication device and a respective contact;

determining an order of the group of contacts based on the desired output format, wherein the order of the group of contacts reflect an aggregate, for each respective one of the contacts, of the particular type of the stored statistical information for communications between the mobile communication device and the respective one of the contacts; and

displaying, on the mobile communication device, the contact information of the contact records of the group of contacts in the determined order.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing phone call frequency information.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing communication time stamp information.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein storing statistical information includes storing information indicating the length of a communication with a contact.

15. A contact information display system comprising:

a storage device capable of storing a plurality of contact records and statistical information pertaining to communications between a mobile communication device and a plurality of contacts;

an information management module configured to:

prompt a user for a desired output format for a group of contact records, wherein the desired output format corresponds to a particular type of statistical information stored on the storage device, the statistical information including a total number of communications with each contact and a total length of time of the total number of communications during the life of the mobile communication device, the number being updated in response to a communication between the mobile communication device and a respective contact, wherein the mobile communication device is one of a plurality of communication devices to which the plurality of contacts have been distributed, and

receive, from the user, an indication of the group of contact records and an indication of a desired output format for the group of contact records; and

a display module, included within the mobile communication device, configured to display the group of contact records ordered by the particular type of statistical information stored on the storage device.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the statistical information includes phone call frequency information.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the statistical information includes communication time stamp information.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the statistical information includes information indicating the length of a communication with a contact.

19. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a user input at the mobile communication device, wherein the user input corresponds to a contact displayed on the mobile communication device; and

initiating communications, by the mobile communication device, between the mobile communication device and the contact corresponding to the user input.

20. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mobile communication device is a cellular telephone.

21. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

receiving a user input at the mobile communication device, wherein the user input corresponds to a contact displayed on the mobile communication device; and

initiating communications, by the mobile communication device, between the mobile communication device and the contact corresponding to the user input.

22. The method of claim 11 , wherein the mobile communication device is a cellular telephone.

23. The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying, on the mobile communication device, the contact information corresponding to the selected group of contacts comprises displaying the contact information corresponding to the selected group of contacts ordered by call frequency information associated with each of the plurality of contacts.

24. The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying, on the mobile communication device, the contact information corresponding to the selected group of contacts ordered by the particular type of the stored statistical information comprises:

displaying the contact information corresponding to the selected group of contacts according to an order in which a first selected contact associated with a first total length of time of a total number of communications with the first selected contact during the life of the mobile communication device is displayed prior to a second selected contact associated with a second total length of time of a total number of communications with the second selected contact during the life of mobile communication device due to the first total length of time being greater than the second total length of time.

25. The method of claim 11 , wherein determining the order of the group of contacts based on the desired output format includes:

determining an order in which a first contact associated with a first total length of time of a total number of communications with the first contact during the life of the mobile communication device is displayed prior to a second contact associated with a second total length of time of a total number of communications with the second contact during the life of the mobile communication device due to the first total length of time being greater than the second total length of time.

26. The system of claim 15 , wherein the display module is configured to display the group of contact records according to an order in which a first contact associated with a first total length of time of a total number of communications with the first contact during the life of the mobile communication device is displayed prior to a second contact associated with a second total length of time of a total number of communications with second contact during the life of the mobile communication device due to the first total length of time being greater than the second total length of time.
