Abstract

A customizable web site access system is comprised of a software program incorporating both a composing portion and a performing portion. The composing portion of the software program is used to create a presentation. The presentation includes a list of URLs for display, a desired sequence of display of the URLs, and a duration of display of the URLs. The performing portion of the software program operates to load and display the presentation to a user of the web in an automatic slide show presentation.

Claims (39)

1. A customizable web page presentation system comprising:

at least one processor and memory configured to:

accept a search result listing comprising a list of a plurality of web pages created automatically by a query-based system to create a presentation, wherein each of the plurality of web pages is identified in the list by a uniform resource locator (URL), wherein each of the plurality of web pages in the list is to be presented as an individual web page within the presentation and each individual web page is dynamically derived from the corresponding URL in the list by activating the corresponding URL to access real-time content from the corresponding URL;

provide the list of the plurality of web pages and a set of user preferences defining characteristics of the presentation; and

cause the presentation created according to the list and the set of user preferences to be automatically displayed, wherein the web page identified by each URL in the list is displayed as a web page within the presentation, and wherein the real-time content of each web page as the presentation executes is automatically displayed in real time as only a portion of a web page.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are further configured to cause display of a presentation control panel.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one processor and memory are further configured to accept a desired sequence of display of the plurality of web pages in the list.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the presentation is stored on a server for access by web users.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are further adapted to provide a plurality of list acceptance methodologies including manual entry via a user interface and automatic entry by the query-based system, and wherein the list is populated by both manual entry via the user interface and automatic entry by the query-based system.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein each individual web page is derived from an HTML web page.

7. A customizable web page presentation system comprising:

at least one processor and memory configured to:

provide a dynamic presentation comprising a plurality of web pages, wherein each of the plurality of web pages is identified by a uniform resource locator (URL), comprising a sequenced list, and wherein the sequenced list is created automatically by a query-based system, wherein each of the plurality of web pages in the sequenced list is displayed as an individual web page within the dynamic presentation and each individual web page is dynamically derived from one of the plurality of URLs in the sequenced list by activating the corresponding URL to access real-time content from the corresponding URL;

cause the dynamic presentation to be automatically displayed according to the sequenced list and a set of user preferences defining presentation characteristics for the plurality of web pages; and

cause each web page in the sequenced list to be displayed as a web page within the dynamic presentation by automatically displaying the real-time content of each web page in real time as the dynamic presentation executes as only a portion of a web page in a web browser.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are further configured to:

automatically accept the sequenced list from the query-based system and the set of presentation preferences to create the dynamic presentation; and

cause each web page in the sequenced list to be displayed as a web page within the dynamic presentation upon activation by the web browser, wherein the web browser is remote from the at least one processor and memory.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are further configured to cause display of a presentation control panel in the web browser.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the presentation control panel is configured to enable a user to edit the dynamic presentation.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the presentation control panel is adapted to enable a user to edit the sequenced list.

12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the dynamic presentation is stored on a server for access by web users.

13. The system of claim 7 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are configured to automatically activate the display of the real-time content of each web page upon one of:

entry into a web site through user-entry of a URL,

activation of a hyperlink,

activation in the web browser of a hyperlink embedded in an e-mail message, or

selection in the web browser of one of a plurality of presentations from a gallery.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the sequenced list is provided using a plurality of list acceptance methodologies including manual entry via a user interface and automatic entry by the query-based system, and wherein the sequenced list is populated by both manual entry via the user interface and automatic entry by the query-based system.

15. The system of claim 7 , wherein each individual web page is derived from an HTML web page.

16. A method for presenting a customized web page presentation, the method comprising:

by at least one processor and memory:

creating a presentation dynamically from a list of a plurality of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) by accepting the list of a plurality of URLs, wherein each of the plurality of URLs identifies a web page;

providing a plurality of list acceptance methodologies, wherein the plurality of list acceptance methodologies comprises manual entry via a user interface and automatic entry by a query-based system providing a search result listing comprising a list of a plurality of web pages, wherein each of the web pages in the search result listing corresponds to one of the plurality of URLs, and each of the plurality of URLs in the list is displayed as an individual web page within the presentation, and each individual web page is dynamically derived from one of the plurality of URLs in the list by activating the corresponding URL to access real-time content from the corresponding URL; and

automatically displaying the presentation as a plurality of web pages according to the list and a set of user preferences defining presentation characteristics for the plurality of web pages, wherein the web page identified by each URL in the list is displayed as a web page within the presentation, and wherein the real-time content of each web page as the presentation executes is automatically displayed in real time as only a portion of a web page.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the list comprises a sequenced list.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the at least one processor and memory are further configured to cause display of a presentation control panel and wherein the sequenced list is user-defined via the presentation control panel.

19. The method of claim 16 , further comprising causing the at least one processor and memory to present a control panel.

20. The method of claim 16 , wherein the presentation is stored on a server for access by web users.

21. The method of claim 16 wherein each individual web page is derived from an HTML web page.
