Abstract

The invention provides methods for treating or suppressing marihuana usage, withdrawal, or dependence involving administration of a therapeutically-effective amount of a cytosine-containing or cytidine-containing compound, uridine-containing compound, creatine-containing compound, adenosine-containing, or adenosine-elevating compound to a mammal.

Claims (19)

1. A method of ameliorating or suppressing marihuana dependence, withdrawal or usage, said method comprising administering to a human in need thereof a therapeutically-effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of a cytidine-containing compound, a cytosine-containing compound, and a creatine-containing compound.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said compound administered is cytidine.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said compound administered is said cytidine-containing compound further comprising choline.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said compound administered is CDP-choline.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein said CDP-choline is administered orally.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said cytidine containing compound administered is CDP.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said administering is chronic.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said human is a child or adolescent.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said human is pregnant.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising administering a psychological intervention to said human.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein craving is reduced.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein said human is diagnosed with marihuana withdrawal or dependence.

13. A method of treating or suppressing marihuana dependence, withdrawal or usage, said method comprising administering to a human diagnosed with marihuana dependence, withdrawal or usage a therapeutically-effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of a cytidine-containing compound, a cytosine-containing compound, and a creatine-containing compound.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein said compound administered is said cytidine-containing compound.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein said compound administered is CDP-choline.

16. The method of claim 13 , further comprising administering a psychological intervention to said human.

17. The method of claim 13 , wherein said administering is chronic.

18. The method of claim 13 , wherein craving is reduced.

19. The method of claim 13 , wherein said human is diagnosed with marihuana withdrawal or dependence.
