DRIVING HEADS FOR FASTENERS
A method of tightening a fastener having a driving head that includes two or more superimposed non-circular enclosed recesses, at least one of the recesses having a different diameter or shape from the other(s).

20 . A method for use with a fastener having a driving head that includes two or more recesses that are superimposed and non-circular, at least one of the two or more recesses having a different diameter or shape from at least one other recess, the method comprising:
simultaneously applying a torque via a driver to at least two of the recesses in order to tighten the fastener to a workpiece;
wherein the driving head is configured so that the fastener can only be removed from the workpiece by simultaneously applying torque to at least two of the recesses;
wherein a diameter of each of the two or more recesses has a longest dimension substantially parallel to the top surface of the driving head; and
wherein each of the recesses has a height that, when engaged alone by the driver, is not great enough to allow sufficient torque to be applied to the fastener to remove the fastener from the workpiece.
21 . The method of claim 20 , wherein each of the recesses has a recess longitudinal axis parallel to a longitudinal axis of the fastener and each of the recesses has sides that are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fastener.
22 . The method of claim 20 , wherein at least two of the recesses have different diameters.
23 . The method of claim 20 , wherein at least two of the recesses are shaped different from one another.
24 . The method of claim 20 , wherein at least two of the recesses are rotationally displaced from one another.
25 . The method of claim 20 , wherein at least two of the recesses have longitudinal axes that are not co-linear.
26 . The method of claim 20 , wherein at least one of the recesses has a longitudinal cross-section that comprises an approximation of a circle.
27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the approximation of a circle is an ellipse.
28 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the head includes at least three recesses to which torque is applied.
29 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the heights of the recesses range from about 0.5 mm to about 2 mm.
30 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the height of each recess is about 1 mm.
31 . The method of claim 29 , wherein the height and diameter of each recess is selected such that the ratio of height to diameter for each recess is in the range of 0.8 to 1.2 inclusive.
