Abstract

A system for providing irrigation control is provided. The system includes a number of non-local data sources for providing data, a processor and an irrigation system. The processor is configured to receive data from one or more of the non-local data sources and calculate an evapotranspiration (ET) value for an irrigation area that is non-local with respect to the non-local data sources. The irrigation system is located in the irrigation area and configured to receive the ET value from the processor and provide appropriate irrigation control for the irrigation area using the ET value.

Claims (49)

1 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a 4-D grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location by extracting x, y, z and time locations from data in the 4-D grid of the weather parameters.

2 . A method of providing irrigation control comprising:

obtaining weather data from a plurality areas;

calculating a grid of weather parameters from the weather data;

calculating an ET value at a target location from data in x, y, z and time locations from the grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value for the target location.

3 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location from data in the grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value for the target location.

4 . A method of controlling an irrigation system comprising:

obtaining weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

calculating a grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

calculating an ET value for a target location from data in the grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value for the target location.

5 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location from data in the grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value to be used by an irrigation system located at the target location, thereby allowing the irrigation system to provide irrigation control based on the received ET value.

6 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a 4-D grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location by extracting x, y, z and time locations from the 4-D grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value to be used by an irrigation system located at the target location, thereby allowing the irrigation system to provide irrigation control based on the received ET value.

7 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a 4-D grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location by extracting x, y, z and time locations from the 4-D grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value to be used by an irrigation system located at the target location, thereby allowing the irrigation system to provide irrigation control based on the received ET value.

8 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value at a target location from data in the grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value to an irrigation system located at the target location, thereby allowing the irrigation system to provide irrigation control based on the received ET value.

9 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location in 2D space from data in the grid of the weather parameters;

10 . An irrigation control system comprising:

a processor capturing weather data from a plurality of data sources that collect weather data at a plurality of areas;

the processor calculating a completely populated 4-D grid of weather parameters from the collected weather data;

the processor calculating an ET value for a target location by extracting x, y, z and time locations from the 4-D grid of the weather parameters;

providing the ET value to be used by an irrigation system located at the target location, thereby allowing the irrigation system to provide irrigation control based on the received ET value.
