DIVE COMPUTER WITH GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM RECEIVER
Dive computers and methods of logging information including position, audio and video information are disclosed. In one embodiment, the invention includes a processor, a global positioning system receiver connected to the processor and a pressure transducer connected to the processor.

21 . A dive computer comprising:
a processor;
a global positioning system receiver connected to the processor;
a display connected to the processor;
a pressure transducer connected to the processor; and
clock circuitry connected to the processor;
wherein the processor is configured to determine time using the clock circuitry;
wherein the processor is configured to determine depth of submersion using the pressure transducer;
wherein the processor is configured to generate position information using the global positioning system receiver;
wherein the processor is configured to provide depth and time information using the display; and
wherein the processor is configured to combine the time, depth, and position information into a dive log.
22 . The dive computer of claim 21 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate the amount of time a diver can remain at a particular depth without the need for decompression stops.
23 . The dive computer of claim 21 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate a decompression stop depth and a stop duration.
24 . The dive computer of claim 21 , further comprising a temperature sensor, wherein the processor is configured to determine water temperature using the temperature sensor.
25 . The dive computer of claim 21 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate when a diver can safety board an airplane.
26 . The dive computer of claim 21 , further comprising:
a memory system connected to the processor;
wherein the memory system comprises a plurality of memory units; and
wherein at least one memory unit is removable from the dive computer.
27 . The dive computer of claim 21 , further comprising:
a communications port connected to the processor; and
wherein the communications port is configured to communicate with external devices.
28 . The dive computer of claim 21 , further comprising:
an impeller connected to the processor; and
a compass connected to the processor;
wherein the processor is configured to determine speed and bearing using the impeller and compass.
29 . The dive computer of claim 21 , further comprising a buoy including a G.P.S. antenna connected to the global. positioning system receiver via a communication cable.

41 . A dive computer, comprising:
a processor;
a pressure transducer connected to the processor;
clock circuitry connected to the processor; and
a global positioning system receiver separate from the processor and configured to generate position information;
wherein the processor is configured to generate depth and time information using the pressure transducer and the clock circuitry;
wherein the processor is configured to download position information from the global positioning system receiver; and
wherein the processor is configured to combine the depth and time information with the position information.
42 . The underwater computing system of claim 41 , wherein the processor downloads information from the global positioning system receiver over a wireless link.
43 . The underwater computing system of claim 41 , wherein the processor downloads information from the global positioning system receiver over a wired link.
44 . The underwater computing system of claim 41 , wherein the processor, pressure transducer and clock circuitry are configured to be worn on the wrist of the diver.
45 . The underwater computing system of claim 41 , wherein the global positioning system receiver is configured to attach to the diver or a diving apparatus attached with the diver.
46 . The dive computer of claim 41 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate the amount of time a diver can remain at a particular depth without the need for decompression stops.
47 . The dive computer of claim 41 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate a decompression stop depth and a stop duration.
48 . The dive computer of claim 41 , further comprising a temperature sensor, wherein the processor is configured to determine water temperature using the temperature sensor.
49 . The dive computer of claim 41 , wherein the processor is configured to calculate when a diver can safely board an airplane.
50 . The dive computer of claim 41 , further comprising:
a memory system connected to the processor;
wherein the memory system comprises a plurality of memory units; and
wherein at least one memory unit is removable from the dive computer.
