Abstract

A filtration module is provided which includes a manifold ( 100 ), a filtration cartridge ( 104 ) and a bowl ( 102 ) that houses the filter cartridge. The filtration cartridge and bowl are connected to each other to form a unitary construction. The filtration cartridge and bowl are in fluid communication with the manifold in a manner which prevents mixing of a fluid feed to the module and a permeate removed from the module.

Claims (9)

1. A disposable filtration module comprising a cartridge, a bowl and a collar removably attached to said cartridge, said cartridge adapted to removably interlock, via said collar, with said bowl having an inner surface with at least one slot formed on said inner surface, said cartridge comprising a filter and a housing for said filter, wherein said collar comprises at least one flange, said at least one flange being received by said at least one slot and being keyed to snap fit into said slot to secure said cartridge within said bowl, wherein said at least one slot is defined by a shoulder and an end, and wherein upon locating said at least one flange in said slot, said at least one flange contacts said shoulder, and upon rotating said cartridge, said at least one flange becomes snappingly engaged between said shoulder and said end.

2. The disposable filtration module of 1 wherein said flange comprises a lug.

3. The disposable filtration module of claim 2 , wherein said lug has an oval or elliptical cross-section.

4. The disposable filtration module of claim 1 , wherein said bowl inner surface has two slots and wherein said collar has two flanges.

5. A disposable filtration module comprising a cartridge, a bowl and a collar removably attached to said cartridge, said cartridge adapted to removably interlock, via said collar, with said bowl having an inner surface with at least one slot formed on said inner surface, said cartridge comprising a filter and a housing for said filter, wherein said collar comprises at least one mating element, said at least one mating element configured to be received by said at least one slot in snapping relation to secure said cartridge within said bowl, wherein said at least one slot is defined by a shoulder and an end, and wherein upon locating said at least one mating element in said at least one slot, said at least one mating element contacts said shoulder, and upon rotating said cartridge, said at least one mating element becomes snappingly engaged between said shoulder and said end.

6. The disposable filtration module of claim 5 , wherein said mating element comprises a lug.

7. The disposable filtration module of claim 6 , wherein said lug has an oval or elliptical cross-section.

8. The disposable filtration module of claim 5 , wherein said bowl inner surface has two slots and wherein said collar has two mating elements.

9. A filtration cartridge, collar and bowl combination, said filtration cartridge comprising a housing for containing a filter, said collar being removably attached to said filtration cartridge, said collar having at least one mating element keyed for engagement in snapping relationship with said bowl, said bowl having at least one key receptacle for receiving said at least one mating element in said snapping relationship to form a unitary assembly of said bowl and said cartridge, wherein said at least one key receptacle is defined by a shoulder and an end, and wherein upon locating said at least one mating element in said at least one key receptacle, said at least one mating element contacts said shoulder, and upon rotating said cartridge, said at least one mating element becomes snappingly engaged between said shoulder and said end.
