Abstract

The present invention relates to methods and compositions for modulating angiogenesis. In particular, the present invention relates to Pigment Epithelial-derived Factor (PEDF) fragments for use in modulating angiogenesis and treating angiogenesis mediated disease.

Claims (10)

1. A method of inhibiting angiogenesis, comprising: contacting a tissue exhibiting angiogenesis with a composition comprising an isolated peptide under conditions such that angiogenesis is decreased in said tissue, wherein said peptide consists of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of: SEQ ID NOs:2, 12, 13, 22, 23, 33, 34, 41, 42, 52, 53, 62, 63, 73, 74, 84, and 85.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said peptide consists of the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:2 or SEQ ID NO:52.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said composition further comprises a fluorescent compound.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises an anti-cancer agent different from said peptide.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein said anti-cancer agent comprises rapamycin.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises a physiological tolerable buffer.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said composition further comprises an anti-angiogenic agent different from said peptide.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of administering a second agent to said tissue.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said tissue is cancerous tissue.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein said tissue is in a subject.
