Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for purifying a composition (I) comprising at least one cyclic ketone having from 7 to 16 carbon atoms, which comprises thermal treatment of the composition (I) with at least one acid and further purification by means of a process selected from the group consisting of distillation, extraction and crystallization, Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for preparing cyclododecanone, which comprises such a purification, and the use of at least one acid for purifying a composition (I) comprising at least one cyclic ketone having from 7 to 16 carbon atoms by thermal treatment of the composition (I) with the acid.

Claims (35)

1. A process for preparing cyclododecanone which comprises at least the steps

(a) preparing a composition (I′) comprising at least cyclododecanone, at least comprising the steps

(a-1) trimerization of butadiene to form a cyclododecatriene,

(a-2) oxidating of the cyclododecatriene to form a cyclododecadienone,

(a-3) hydrogenating of the cyclododecadienone to form a cyclododecanone,

(b) purifying the composition (I′), which comprises at least the steps

(i) thermal treating of the composition (I′) with at least one acid,

(ii) further purifying by means of a process selected from the group consisting of distillation, extraction and crystallization.

2. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the treating in step (i) is carried out at a temperature of from 60 to 350° C.

3. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the treating in step (i) is carried out for a time of from 0.1 to 50 hours.

4. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the acid is present in homogeneously dissolved form or heterogeneous form.

5. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the acid is at least partly separated off after step (i) and before step (ii).

6. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the composition (I) comprises at least one further oxygen-comprising organic compound in addition to the at least one cyclic ketone.

(ii) further purifying by means of a process selected from the group consisting of distillation, extraction and crystallization,

wherein the treating in step (i) is carried out at a temperature of from 60 to 350° C. and for a time of from 0.1 to 50 hours.

8. A process for preparing cyclododecanone which comprises at least the steps

(a) preparing a composition (I′) comprising at least cyclododecanone, at least comprising the steps

(a-1) trimerization of butadiene to form cyclododecatriene,

(a-2) oxidating of cyclododecatriene to form cyclododecadienone,

(a-3) hydrogenating of cyclododecadienone to form cyclododecanone,

(b) purifying the composition (I′), which comprises at least the steps

(i) thermal treating of the composition (I′) with at least one acid,

(ii) further purifying by means of a process selected from the group consisting of distillation, extraction and crystallization,

wherein the treating in step (i) is carried out at a temperature of from 60 to 350° C. and for a time of from 0.1 to 50 hours, and

wherein the acid is at least partly separated off after step (i) and before step (ii).

9. The process according to claim 8 , wherein the acid is present in homogeneously dissolved form or heterogeneous form.

10. The process according to claim 8 , wherein the composition (I′) comprises at least one further oxygen-comprising organic compound in addition to the at least one cyclic ketone.

11. The process according to claim 9 , wherein the composition (I′) comprises at least one further oxygen-comprising organic compound in addition to the at least one cyclic ketone.
