Abstract

A rotor assembly for mounting a rotor to a motor shaft having a rotor with a centrally positioned central bore, the diameter of which is slightly larger than a diameter of the motor shaft, a first stepped bore intersecting the central bore and being aligned along a first axis of the rotor, and a second stepped bore also intersecting the central bore and being aligned along a second axis of the rotor. A first cam fastener is disposed within the first stepped bore, and a second cam fastener is disposed within the second stepped bore. Upon rotating the first and second cam fasteners, they engage the motor shaft thereby securely clamping the rotor to the motor shaft.

Claims (19)

1. A rotor assembly for mounting a rotor to a motor shaft, comprising:

a rotor having a thickness, a central bore having a diameter larger than the shaft, a first axis passing through a center point of said central bore;

one or more bores each having a center point and being adjacent to and adjoining with said central bore such that said center point of each of said bores is aligned with said first axis; and

one or more fasteners each having a length and camming action, being adapted to fit within one of said bores; and

wherein said fasteners are rotated in a first direction to clamp against the motor shaft; and

wherein said fasteners are rotated in a second direction to be clear of said central bore.

2. The rotor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each of said fasteners is a cam screw.

3. The rotor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein each of said bores is a stepped bore having a counterbored hole and a tapped hole.

4. The rotor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein one of said fasteners is rotated in a first direction to clamp said one of said fasteners to the motor shaft.

5. The rotor assembly according to claim 4 , wherein one of said fasteners is rotated in a second direction that is opposed to said first direction.

6. A rotor assembly for mounting a rotor to a motor shaft, comprising:

a rotor having a thickness, a central bore having a diameter larger than the shaft, a first axis passing through a center point of said central bore;

at least one bore having a center point, said bore being adjacent to and adjoining with said central bore such that said center point of said bore is aligned with said first axis; and

a means for clamping said rotor to the motor shaft wherein said means for clamping is adapted be disposed within said bore and upon rotation in a first direction, provides sufficient torque to secure said rotor to the motor shaft, and upon rotation in a second direction is clear of said central bore.

7. The rotor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein said means for clamping is a fastener having a camming action.

8. The rotor assembly according to claim 7 , wherein said fastener is a cam screw.

9. The rotor assembly according to claim 7 , wherein said fastener is rotated in a first direction to clamp said fastener to the motor shaft.

10. The rotor assembly according to claim 7 , wherein said fastener is rotated in a second direction that is opposed to said first direction.

11. The rotor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein said bore is a stepped bore having a counterbored hole and a tapped hole.
