Abstract

An arrangement for use in a safety notification system includes first, second, third and four outputs configurable for first and second wiring configurations of notification appliance circuits. The arrangement also includes a configurable terminal arrangement having first and second configurations corresponding to the first and second wiring configurations, and an end-of-line resistor. The configurable terminal arrangement in the first configuration couples the end-of-line resistor between the third and fourth outputs. The configurable terminal arrangement in the second configuration decouples the end-of-line resistor from the third and fourth outputs.

Claims (24)

1. An extension loop alarm notification output arrangement for use in a safety notification system, comprising:

a notification extension loop connected to the safety notification system that generates an alarm notification output signal, configurable into a first and second wiring configurations of a notification appliance circuit; wherein the notification extension loop comprising:

first, second, third and fourth outputs of the notification extension loop configurable for the first and second wiring configurations of the notification appliance circuit;

at least two of configurable terminals having first and second configurations corresponding to the first and second wiring configurations, the first configuration configured to connect the first, second, third, and fourth outputs to one notification appliance circuit, and the second configuration configured to connect the first, second, third, and fourth outputs to two notification appliance circuits;

an end-of-line resistor of the notification extension loop, wherein said end-of-line resistor configured to couple between the at least two of configurable terminals; and

wherein the at least two of the configurable terminals in the first configuration couples said end-of-line resistor between the third and fourth outputs, and wherein the at least two of the configurable terminals in the second configuration decouples said end-of-line resistor from the third and fourth outputs.

2. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the at least two of the configurable terminals in the first configuration further couples the fourth output to ground via a semiconductor device.

3. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 2 , wherein the semiconductor device is a diode.

4. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 2 , wherein the semiconductor device is a MOSFET transistor.

5. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the end-of-line resistor of the notification extension loop is coupled on a first side to ground via a semiconductor device, and operably coupled on a second end to a power switching device.

6. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 1 , wherein a first side of said end-of-line resistor is coupled to one of the at least two of configurable terminals.

7. An extension loop alarm notification output arrangement for use in a safety notification system, comprising:

a notification extension loop connected to the safety notification system that generates an alarm notification output signal, configurable into a first and second wiring configurations of a notification appliance circuit; wherein the notification extension loop comprising:

first, second, third and fourth outputs of the notification extension loop configurable for the first and second wiring configurations of the notification appliance circuit;

at least two of configurable terminal arrangements having first and second configurations corresponding to the first and second wiring configurations, the first configuration configured to connect the first, second, third, and fourth outputs to one notification appliance circuit, and the second configuration configured to connect the first, second, third, and fourth outputs to two notification appliance circuits; the first configurable terminal arrangement having a first terminal operably coupled to a first source of a first alarm notification output signal of the notification extension loop, a second terminal configured to be operably coupled to a first source of a second alarm notification output signal of the notification extension loop, and a third terminal operably coupled to the third output of the notification extension loop, the second configurable terminal arrangement having a first terminal, a second terminal operably coupled to ground, and a third terminal operably coupled to the fourth output of the notification extension loop; and

an end-of-line resistor of the notification extension loop, wherein said end-of-line resistor operably coupled between the first terminal of the first configurable terminal arrangement and the first terminal of the second configurable terminal arrangement;

wherein the at least two of the configurable terminal arrangements in the first configuration couples said end-of-line resistor between the third and fourth outputs, and wherein the at least two of the configurable terminal arrangements in the second configuration decouples said end-of-line resistor from the third and fourth outputs.

8. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 7 , wherein the at least two of configurable terminal arrangements in the first configuration further couples the fourth output to ground via a semiconductor device.

9. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 8 , wherein the semiconductor device is a diode.

10. The extension loop alarm notification output arrangement of claim 8 , wherein the semiconductor device is a MOSFET transistor.

11.
