Abstract

In a process for granulating slag, from a blast furnace or a smelting reduction plant, in which a granule/water mixture formed during the granulation is fed to a granulation tank and then to a dewatering installation, in which the slag granules are dewatered. H 2 S-containing vapors and gases formed during the granulation are at least partially condensed by injection of water in a condensation space which is flow-connected to the granulation tank. H 2 S-containing residual gases are discharged from the compensation space below the water injection point, H 2 S is burnt.

Claims (19)

1. An installation for granulating slag from a blast furnace or a smelting reduction plant, the installation comprising:

a granulation device configured to granulate the slag;

a slag channel configured to deliver the slag to the granulation device;

an extractor hood positioned over the slag channel and configured to discharge flue gas;

a downstream granulation tank positioned downstream from the granulation device in a slag movement direction and configured to hold a granule/water mixture;

a condensation device flow connected to the granulation tank and including a water feed and a device configured to inject water into the condensation device; and

a discharge line leading from the condensation device and configured to discharge vapors and gases containing H 2 S, the discharge line opening out into the slag channel at a first point between the granulation device and the extractor hood,

wherein the first point is positioned at a first distance from the extractor hood, and the slag channel is configured to pass the vapors and gases in a direction counter to the direction of the slag flow so as to heat and combust H 2 S in the vapors and gases.

2. The installation as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the slag channel further comprises a burner positioned and configured to generate an ancillary flame.

3. The installation as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a granule dewatering installation positioned downstream of the granulation device in the slag movement direction,

wherein the granule dewatering installation comprises at least one dewatering device and a water basin,

wherein the at least one dewatering device and the water basin include a covering hood and a discharge line positioned and configured to discharge vapors and gases,

wherein the covering hood opens out in the condensation device above the device for injecting water, the discharge line leading away from the covering hood.

4. The installation as claimed in claim 3 , further comprising a gas barrier positioned between the granulation tank and the granule dewatering installation.

5. The installation as claimed in claim 3 , further comprising a device positioned and configured to trap water and condensate and disposed in the condensation device below the device for the injection of water; and

a discharge line from the device opening out into the granule dewatering device.

6. The installation as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the granule dewatering installation is pipe connected to the water feed of the condensation device or the granulation device.

7. The installation as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a water cooler or a dedusting device configured to discharge the flue gas from the extractor hood.

8. The installation as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the discharge line is positioned in the condensation device connected below the device for injecting water.
