Abstract

A supplemental lens unit is used on or in combination with a pair of eyeglasses. Lens unit comprises a bridge having at least one prong on each of two ends. Two supplemental lenses are connected by holes positioned near a nasal portion thereof through which prongs protrude. At least one magnet is positioned in peripheral cavities drilled into primary and supplemental lenses. Magnets in each supplemental lens and the corresponding primary lens are of opposite polarity such that lenses are magnetically and removably attached. An example of a method of manufacturing the supplemental lens unit is also disclosed.

Claims (16)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . An embeddable magnet, said magnet comprising two ledges and a circumferential indent therebetween and being embeddable in a surface.

22 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein said circumferential indent has a length that ranges from about 0.33 mm to about 0.53 mm.

23 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein said magnet has an attractive force of that ranges from about 0.33 kJ/d to about 0.53 kJ/d.

24 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein said magnet further comprises at least one decorative crystal.

25 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein a height of each said ledge ranges from about 0.169 mm to about 0.281 mm.

26 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein an outermost edge of each of said ledges is curved.

27 . The magnet as set forth in claim 35 wherein a width of at least one of said ledges has a base that ranges from about 0.375 mm to about 0.625 mm.

28 - 29 . (canceled)

30 . A magnet, comprising:

an elongated shaft comprising a magnetic material and having substantially parallel first and second ledges that radially project therefrom, said first ledge being positioned at a proximal end of said shaft and said second ledge being positioned at a distal end of said shaft, said ledges forming a circumferential indent on the shaft.

31 . The magnet as set forth in claim 30 , wherein said magnet is embeddable in a surface.

32 . The magnet as set forth in claim 30 , wherein an outermost edge of each of said ledges is curved.

33 . The magnet as set forth in claim 30 , wherein an outermost edge of each of said ledges is beveled.

34 . The magnet as set forth in claim 26 wherein a width of at least one of said ledges ranges from about 0.375 mm to about 0.625 mm at its widest point.

35 . The magnet as set forth in claim 21 wherein an outermost edge of each of said ledges is beveled.
