Abstract

A composition for chemical soil improvement includes a synthetic fluid or base oil, a pour point depressant, polyisobutylene, and synthetic fibers, and various combinations thereof.

Claims (42)

1. A composition for chemical soil improvement, the composition comprising:

a synthetic fluid;

polyisobutylene;

synthetic fibers; and,

a pour point depressant.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the synthetic fluid is synthetic isoalkane, and the synthetic isoalkane is about 80% to about 95% by weight of a mixture of the synthetic isoalkane, the polyisobutylene, and the pour point depressant.

3. The composition of claim 2 , wherein the pour point depressant is chosen from the group comprising acrylic, acrylic copolymers, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers, vinyl acetate olefin copolymers, alkyl esters of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymers, alkyl esters of unsaturated carboxylic acids, polyalkylacrylates, alkyl phenols, alpha olefin copolymers, polymethacrylate, and polyalkylmethacrylate.

4. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the composition further comprises a binder, wherein the binder is chosen from the group comprising a carboxylic acid, an ester, and a thermoplastic polyolefin.

5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the synthetic fibers are polypropylene, are about one-quarter inch to about three inches in length, and are chosen from the group comprising standard tape fibers, fibrillated fibers, and decomposing fibers.

6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the synthetic fluid meets EPA standards for offshore drilling.

7. A composition for chemical soil improvement, the composition comprising:

a synthetic fluid;

synthetic fibers; and,

a binder.

8. The composition of claim 7 , wherein synthetic fluid is synthetic isoalkane and the synthetic isoalkane is about 50% to about 95% by weight of a mixture of the synthetic isoalkane and the binder.

9. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the binder is chosen from the group comprising a carboxylic acid, an ester, polyisobutylene, and a thermoplastic polyolefin.

10. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the composition further comprises an emulsifier.

11. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the synthetic fibers are polypropylene, are about one-quarter inch to about three inches in length, and are chosen from the group comprising standard tape fibers, fibrillated fibers, and decomposing fibers.

12. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the synthetic fluid meets EPA standards for offshore drilling.

13. A composition for chemical soil improvement, the composition comprising:

a synthetic fluid;

a biodegradable material; and,

synthetic fibers.

14. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the synthetic fluid is synthetic isoalkane, and the synthetic isoalkane is about 50% to about 95% by weight of a mixture of the synthetic isoalkane and the biodegradable material.

15. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the synthetic fibers are polypropylene, are about one-quarter inch to about three inches in length, and are chosen from the group comprising standard tape fibers, fibrillated fibers, and decomposing fibers.

16. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the biodegradable material is chosen from a group comprising biodiesel and glycerin.

17. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the composition further comprises a binder.

18. The composition of claim 17 , wherein the binder is chosen from the group comprising a carboxylic acid, an ester, polyisobutylene, and a thermoplastic polyolefin.

19. The composition of claim 18 , wherein the composition further comprises an emulsifier.

20. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the synthetic fluid meets EPA standards for offshore drilling.

21. A composition for chemical soil improvement, the composition comprising:

a base oil;

synthetic fibers; and,

polyisobutylene.

22. The composition of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises at least a second binder, wherein the second binder is chosen from the group comprising a carboxylic acid, an ester, and a thermoplastic polyolefin.

23. The composition of claim 21 , wherein the synthetic fibers are polypropylene, are about one-quarter inch to about three inches in length, and are chosen from the group comprising standard tape fibers, fibrillated fibers, and decomposing fibers.

24. The composition of claim 21 , wherein the composition further comprises:

a pour point depressant.

25. A composition for chemical soil improvement, the composition comprising:

a base oil; and,

synthetic fibers.

26. The composition of claim 25 , wherein the synthetic fibers are polypropylene, are about one-quarter inch to about three inches in length, and are chosen from the group comprising standard tape fibers, fibrillated fibers, and decomposing fibers.
