Information storage medium and information recording/playback system
There are provided an information storage medium capable of real-time recording/playback of digital moving picture information, and a digital information recording/playback system using this medium. In a medium that records/plays back data including video data and control information, the control information (DA 21 in FIG. 4 ; RTR_VMG in FIG. 30 ) includes information (VOBU entry in FIG. 31 ) for accessing a specific portion (VOBU) of the video data.
1. A machine readable information storage medium for access by an information playback system, the information storage medium embodied as an optical disc comprising:
a first area in which a video object is recorded; and a second area in which control information is recorded,
the control information including first program chain information and second program chain information,
the first program chain information relating to a first program chain, the second program chain information relating to a second program chain,
cells being specified by the control information,
the first program chain specifying a first playback sequence of one part of the cells, the second program chain specifying a second playback sequence of another part of the cells,
a first cell of the one part of cells referring to a first region of the video object, a second cell of the another part of cells referring to a second region of the video object,
a part of the first region being able to overlap with the second region to enable playback of the part of the first region,
another part of the first region being able not to include the second region,
one of the cells corresponding to a specific ID, and the specific ID relating to Main video or Sub video, wherein
the disc is configured to record directory information comprising a first directory for a file of the video object, and a second directory for a file of the control information, the first and second directories being arranged in a same directory, and
the control information is read and provided to play back the video object by the information playback system, and the video object is accessed according to the read control information.
2. A method of recording information on a user data area of the optical disc including,
a first area in which a video object is recorded; and a second area in which control information is recorded,
the control information including first program chain information and second program chain information,
the first program chain information relating to a first program chain, the second program chain information relating to a second program chain,
cells being specified by the control information,
the first program chain specifying a first playback sequence of one part of the cells, the second program chain specifying a second playback sequence of another part of the cells,
a first cell of the one part of cells referring to a first region of the video object, a second cell of the another part of cells referring to a second region of the video object,
a part of the first region being able to overlap with the second region to enable playback of the part of the first region,
another part of the first region being able not to include the second region,
one of the cells corresponding to a specific ID, and the specific ID relating to Main video or Sub video, wherein
the disc is configured to record directory information comprising a first directory for a file of the video object, and a second directory for a file of the control information, the first and second directories being arranged in a same directory, the method comprising:
recording user data on the user data area.
3. A method of reproducing information from a user data area of the optical disc including,
a first area in which a video object is recorded; and a second area in which control information is recorded,
the control information including first program chain information and second program chain information,
the first program chain information relating to a first program chain, the second program chain information relating to a second program chain,
cells being specified by the control information,
the first program chain specifying a first playback sequence of one part of the cells, the second program chain specifying a second playback sequence of another part of the cells,
a first cell of the one part of cells referring to a first region of the video object, a second cell of the another part of cells referring to a second region of the video object,
a part of the first region being able to overlap with the second region to enable playback of the part of the first region,
another part of the first region being able not to include the second region,
one of the cells corresponding to a specific ID, and the specific ID relating to Main video or Sub video, wherein
the disc is configured to record directory information comprising a first directory for a file of the video object, and a second directory for a file of the control information, the first and second directories being arranged in a same directory, the method comprising:
reproducing user data from the user data area.
4. An apparatus for recording information on a user data area of an optical disc including
a first area in which a video object is recorded; and a second area in which control information is recorded,
the control information including first program chain information and second program chain information,
the first program chain information relating to a first program chain, the second program chain information relating to a second program chain,
cells being specified by the control information,
the first program chain specifying a first playback sequence of one part of the cells, the second program chain specifying a second playback sequence of another part of the cells,
a first cell of the one part of cells referring to a first region of the video object, a second cell of the another part of cells referring to a second region of the video object,
a part of the first region being able to overlap with the second region to enable playback of the part of the first region,
another part of the first region being able not to include the second region, and one of the cells corresponding to a specific ID, and the specific ID relating to Main video or Sub video, wherein
the disc is configured to record directory information comprising a first directory for a file of the video object, and a second directory for a file of the control information,
the first and second directories being arranged in a same directory,
the apparatus for recording information comprising:
a recorder configured to record user data on the user data area.
5. An apparatus for reproducing information from a user data area of an optical disc including
a first area in which a video object is recorded; and a second area in which control information is recorded,
the control information including first program chain information and second program chain information,
the first program chain information relating to a first program chain, the second program chain information relating to a second program chain,
cells being specified by the control information,
the first program chain specifying a first playback sequence of one part of the cells, the second program chain specifying a second playback sequence of another part of the cells,
a first cell of the one part of cells referring to a first region of the video object, a second cell of the another part of cells referring to a second region of the video object,
a part of the first region being able to overlap with the second region to enable playback of the part of the first region,
another part of the first region being able not to include the second region, and
one of the cells corresponding to a specific ID, and the specific ID relating to Main video or Sub video, wherein
the disc is configured to record directory information comprising a first directory for a file of the video object, and a second directory for a file of the control information,
the first and second directories being arranged in a same directory,
the apparatus for reproducing information comprising:
a reproducer configured to reproduce user data from the user data area.
