Abstract

A computer processor implemented method of determining system configuration information of a monitored electrical system without the need for user input by constructing a data set of a standard performance curve for at least one system type; defining at least one characteristic feature for each system type; determining the required data to identify at least one system type according to at least one of the standard performance curve and characteristic feature; remotely acquiring the required data; comparing system acquired electrical system data to at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves and correlated characteristic features to provide system configuration information for at least one monitored electrical system to provide the specific type of monitored electrical system.

Claims (44)

1. A computer processor implemented method of determining system configuration information of a monitored electrical system without the need for user input, said method comprising the steps of;

constructing, by a computer, a data set of at least one standard performance curve for at least one system type to provide a data set with at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves and saving said data set with at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves in at least one data server;

defining, by a computer, at least one characteristic feature for each said at least one system type to provide at least one system type and correlated characteristic feature and saving said at least one system type and correlated characteristic feature in said at least one data server;

determining, by a computer, the required data to identify said at least one system type according to at least one of said standard performance curve and said characteristic feature;

remotely acquiring, by a computer, said required data for at least one monitored electrical system to provide acquired electrical system data and saving said acquired electrical system data in said at least one data server;

comparing, by a computer, system acquired electrical system data to said at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves and said system type and correlated characteristic features to provide system configuration information for at least one monitored electrical system to provide the specific type of said at least one monitored electrical system,

wherein said system configuration information is selected from the group consisting of location, longitude, system size, system type, installation angle and system coefficients.

2. A method according to claim 1 , wherein said standard performance curve is selected from the group consisting of energy production profile, geographic average profile, standard performance curve and consumption profiles.

3. A method as in claim 1 , wherein each said at least one monitored electrical system is selected from the group consisting of consumption power lines, photovoltaic power lines, wind power lines, solar system, solar panel system, photovoltaic, thermal, wind powered, geothermal, hydropower.

A method as in claim 1 , wherein said characteristic feature is selected from the group consisting of time of sunrise, time of sunset, associated timestamps, energy consumption, wind system output, weather, configuration, time of year, user habits, system size, tracker versus fixed, energy profile shape, east west orientation, north-south orientation, homeowner type, heating type, temperature sensitivity, diagnostic variable, consumption data, utilized energy, utilized generation, system derate factors and air conditioning status.

5. A method as in claim 1 , further comprising the step of:

Providing a timestamp associated with at least one data set and saving said timestamp associated with at least one data set in said data server.

6. A method as in claim 1 , further comprising the step of:

Identifying, by a computer, a resolvable problem and contacting the user if said system acquired electrical system data deviates a predetermined amount from said standard performance curve.

7. A method as in claim 1 , further comprising at least one of the steps of determining at least one Diagnostic Variable for each monitored electrical system;

determining, by a computer, at least one System Coefficient for each monitored electrical system; and

determining, by a computer, comparative information based upon at least one of the Background Constant, the Diagnostic Variable, the System Coefficient and the energy generated to determine a comparative value of the monitored electrical system.

8. A method as in claim 1 , further comprising the steps of:

accepting, by a computer, information from a communication node in communication with said monitored electrical system to determine the power generated at a first user's premises;

comparing, by a computer, the power generated at a first user's premises to Comparative Information obtained from at least two monitored electrical systems to determine a comparative value;

alerting, by a computer, said first user if said first user's monitored electrical system is within a predetermined deviation from the Comparative value.

9. A computer processor implemented method of determining system configuration information of a monitored electrical system without the need for user input, said method comprising the steps of;

constructing, by a computer, a data set of at least one standard performance curve for at least one system type to provide a data set with at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves and saving said data set with at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves in at least one data server;

of: defining, by a computer, at least one characteristic feature for each said at least one system type to provide at least one system type and correlated characteristic feature and saving said at least one system type and correlated characteristic feature in said at least one data server;

determining, by a computer, the required data to identify said at least one system type according to at least one of said standard performance curve and said characteristic feature;

remotely acquiring, by a computer, said required data for at least one monitored electrical system to provide acquired electrical system data;

timestamping, by a computer, each instance of acquired electrical system data and saving said acquired electrical system data and correlated timestamp in said at least one data server; and

comparing, by a computer, at least one of said system acquired electrical system data and said correlated timestamp to at least one of said at least one system type and correlated standard performance curves and said system type and correlated characteristic features to provide system configuration information for at least one monitored electrical system to provide the specific type of said at least one monitored electrical system.

10. A method as in claim 9 , wherein said system configuration information is selected from the group consisting of location, longitude, system size, system type, installation angle and system coefficients.

11. A method according to claim 9 , wherein said standard performance curve is selected from the group consisting of energy production profile, geographic average profile, standard performance curve and consumption profiles.

12. A method as in claim 9 , wherein each said at least one monitored electrical system is selected from the group consisting of consumption power lines, photovoltaic power lines, wind power lines, solar system, solar panel system, photovoltaic, thermal, wind powered, geothermal, hydropower.

A method as in claim 9 , wherein said characteristic feature is selected from the group consisting of time of sunrise, time of sunset, associated timestamps, energy consumption, wind system output, weather, configuration, time of year, user habits, system size, tracker versus fixed, energy profile shape, east west orientation, north-south orientation, homeowner type, heating type, temperature sensitivity, diagnostic variable, consumption data, utilized energy, utilized generation, system derate factors and air conditioning status.

14. A method as in claim 9 , further comprising the step of:

Providing, by a computer, a timestamp associated with at least one data set and saving said timestamp associated with at least one data set in said data server.

15. A method as in claim 9 , further comprising the step of:

Identifying, by a computer, a resolvable problem and contacting the user if said system acquired electrical system data deviates a predetermined amount from said standard performance curve.

16. A method as in claim 9 , further comprising at least one of the steps of:

determining, by a computer, at least one Diagnostic Variable for each monitored electrical system;

determining, by a computer, at least one System Coefficient for each monitored electrical system; and

determining, by a computer, comparative information based upon at least one of the Background Constant, the Diagnostic Variable, the System Coefficient and the energy generated to determine a comparative value of the monitored electrical system.

17. A method as in claim 9 , further comprising the steps of:

accepting, by a computer, information from a communication node in communication with said monitored electrical system to determine the power generated at a first user's premises;

comparing, by a computer, the power generated at a first user's premises to Comparative Information obtained from at least two monitored electrical systems to determine a comparative value;

alerting, by a computer, said first user if said first user's monitored electrical system is within a predetermined deviation from the Comparative value.
