Abstract

The present invention features a robust customizable computing system comprising: a processing control unit; an external object; and means for operably connecting the processing control unit to the external object, the processing control unit introducing intelligence into the external object, thus causing the external object to perform smart functions. The processing control unit preferably comprises: (a) an encasement module comprising a main support chassis having a plurality of wall supports and a plurality of junction centers containing means for supporting a computer component therein, a dynamic back plane that provides support for connecting peripheral and other computing components directly to a system bus without requiring an interface, means for enclosing the main support chassis and providing access to an interior portion of the encasement module; (b) one or more computer processing components disposed within the junction centers of the encasement module; and (c) means for cooling the interior portion of the encasement module.

Claims (23)

1. A non-hinged encasement of a device configured to house a processor, the encasement comprising a plurality of external surfaces, wherein at least some of the external surfaces comprise aluminum, a speaker component, and a display screen, and wherein the device comprises an antenna that does not extend beyond the plurality of external surfaces of the encasement and is capable of being used to exchange information across the internet.

2. The encasement of claim 1 , wherein the encasement houses a computer system.

3. The encasement of claim 1 , wherein the aluminum comprises at least one of:

(i) extruded aluminum;

(ii) an aluminum composite; and

(iii) a high grade aluminum.

4. The encasement of claim 1 , wherein the encasement is for a hand-held device.

5. The encasement of claim 4 , wherein the device comprises a thin profile.

6. The encasement of claim 1 , further comprising an input device.

7. The encasement of claim 6 , wherein the input device comprises a camera.

8. The encasement of claim 1 , wherein the encasement further houses memory for storing electronic data.

9. The encasement of claim 8 , wherein the electronic data includes audio data.

10. The encasement of claim 9 , wherein the electronic data includes video data.

11. The encasement of claim 9 , wherein the electronic data includes one or more digital pictures.

12. The encasement of claim 9 , wherein the electronic data includes movie data.

13. The encasement of claim 1 , further comprising an output device.

14. A consumer electronics device comprising a non-hinged encasement housing a processor, wherein the encasement comprises a plurality of external surfaces, wherein at least some of the external surfaces comprise aluminum and an input device, and wherein the consumer electronics device comprises a speaker and an antenna that does not extend beyond the plurality of external surfaces of the encasement and is capable of being used to exchange information across the internet.

15. A consumer electronics device of claim 14 , wherein the encasement further comprises a display device on a first side of the consumer electronic device, and wherein the input device is on the first side of the consumer electronics device.

16. A consumer electronics device of claim 14 , wherein the input device is a camera.

17. A consumer electronics device of claim 15 , wherein the input device is a camera.

18. A consumer electronics device of claim 14 , wherein the encasement further houses memory for storing electronic data.

19. A consumer electronics device of claim 18 , wherein the electronic data include at least one of: (i) audio data; (ii) video data; (iii) a digital picture; and (iv) a movie.

20. An electronic device having an encasement configured to house a processor, the encasement comprising a plurality of external surfaces, wherein at least some of the external surfaces comprise aluminum, a camera component, a display screen, a speaker component, and an input device, wherein the input device and the display screen are in the same plane, and wherein the electronics device comprises an antenna that does not extend beyond any of the plurality of external surfaces of the encasement and is capable of being used to exchange information across the internet.
