Virtual Marketplace Accessible To Widgetized Avatars
A system for creating and providing clothing and accessories for avatars, including within a virtual marketplace is disclosed. The system includes computer programming resident on at least one networked server, wherein the computer programming provides a creation tool and an online marketplace having at least one virtual storefront. A user access to the online marketplace includes a user-directed, computer programmable avatar, and further includes a computing device communicatively connected to the at least one networked server.
1 . A computer-implemented tool for associating content with an avatar from a virtual marketplace, comprising:
code for displaying the avatar, the avatar comprising a virtual likeness of a user and at least accessories for the virtual likeness;
code for displaying at least two third party video content items for optional association with the accessories, and a background comprising at least the virtual marketplace associated with the avatar;
code for incorporating, at a direction of the user, at least one of the at least two third party video content items with the accessories of the code for displaying the avatar; code for previewing the incorporation;
code for executing the incorporation based on an acceptance of the previewing by the user; and
code for offering for sale the accessories comprising the executed incorporation to other users.
2 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising code for accepting payment from the other users responsive to the offering for sale.
3 . The tool of claim 2 , wherein the payment comprises money.
4 . The tool of claim 2 , wherein the payment comprises credits in the virtual marketplace.
5 . The tool of claim 2 , wherein the code for accepting payment executes a revenue share of the payment with the user.
6 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the accessories include at least one article of virtual clothing.
7 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the virtual marketplace comprises at least two virtual storefronts.
8 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the background includes at least one media.
9 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising code for saving an accepted incorporation to an avatar profile.
10 . The tool of claim 1 , further comprising code for publishing an accepted incorporation to a location defined by the user.
11 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein the user defined location comprises a virtual storefront in the virtual marketplace.
12 . The tool of claim 10 , wherein the user defined location includes the profile of an avatar.
13 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the incorporated at least one video content item is cropped within the at least accessories.
14 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the incorporated at least one video content item comprises a still picture.
15 . The tool of claim 1 , wherein the incorporated at least one video content item comprises a moving picture.
16 . A method for associating content with an avatar in a virtual marketplace, comprising:
displaying the avatar, the avatar comprising a virtual likeness of a user and at least accessories for the virtual likeness;
displaying at least two third party video content items for optional association with the accessories, and a background comprising at least the virtual marketplace associated with the avatar;
incorporating, at a direction of the user, at least one of the at least two third party video content items with the accessories of the code for displaying the avatar;
previewing said incorporating;
executing said incorporating based on an acceptance of said previewing by the user; and
offering for sale the accessories comprising the executed incorporation to other users for use on other avatars.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising publishing an acceptance of said incorporating to a user defined location.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the user defined location includes a virtual storefront.
19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the user defined location includes a profile.
20 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising cropping the at least one video content item within the accessories upon said incorporating.
