Use of FSH receptor ligands for diagnosis and therapy of cancer
The present invention relates to diagnostic imaging and in particular to the diagnostic imaging and therapy of cancer by means of compositions which specifically target the FSH Receptor expressed by tumor endothelial cells and circulating blood cells.
1. A method for imaging vessels associated with a tumor in a patient, the method comprising administering a labeled Vascular Endothelial follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) receptor (VE-FSHR) ligand to said patient and imaging said patient to detect the in vivo binding of said ligand to a VE-FSHR in vessels associated with the tumor in said patient.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the FSH receptor (FSHR) ligand is a detectably labeled anti-FSHR antibody.
3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the FSH receptor (FSHR) ligand is detectably labeled FSH.
4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said tumor is selected from the group consisting of prostate, kidney, ovary, testis, lung, liver, pancreas, stomach, breast, colon, brain and urinary bladder cancer.
5. The method according to claim 4 , wherein the prostate cancer is prostate adenocarcinoma.
6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the FSH receptor (FSHR) ligand localizes or determines the size of the tumor in vivo.
7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said method evaluates the severity of a cancer or monitors the efficacy of an anti-tumor therapy.
8. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the FSH receptor (FSHR) ligand is administered intravenously.
9. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said FSH receptor (FHSR) ligand is labeled with a gas-filled microvesicle.
10. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said method comprises contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging.
11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the tumor is a primary tumor or a metastatic lesion.
12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said vessels are blood vessels associated with the tumor.
13. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said vessels are microvessels associated with the tumor.
