DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR BIOMARKER DETECTION
Devices and systems for biomarker detection. In at least one embodiment of a device for analyzing the presence or absence of a diagnostic marker to be detected in a body fluid, the device comprises a container, wherein the container houses a sample reservoir having a sample input port in fluid connection with at least one detector array, wherein the detector array comprises at least one detector comprising a reaction chamber comprising an immobilized capture molecule, a stabilizing agent contained within the sample reservoir, the stabilizing agent useful to completely or substantially prevent degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker, and a reagent contained within the detector array, the reagent capable of undergoing a colorimetric reaction or displaying an optically detectable signal and capable of reacting with the diagnostic marker.
1 . A microfluidic device for analyzing the presence or absence of a diagnostic marker to be detected in a body fluid, the microfluidic device comprising:
a container, the container housing:
a sample reservoir having a sample input port in fluid connection with at least one detector array, wherein the detector array comprises at least one detector comprising a reaction chamber comprising an immobilized capture molecule;
a stabilizing agent contained within the sample reservoir, the stabilizing agent useful to completely or substantially prevent degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker; and
a reagent contained within the detector array, the reagent capable of undergoing a colorimetric reaction or displaying an optically detectable signal and capable of reacting with the diagnostic marker.
2 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , further comprising filter capable of separating at least one unwanted component from a body fluid.
3 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , further comprising a results display, wherein a result from the detector array is visually detectable.
4 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , wherein the results display comprises a plurality of displays capable to visualizing a plurality of detected diagnostic markers.
5 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , further comprising a control display, wherein the detection of at least one control reagent by the at least one detector is visualized.
6 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of a protease inhibitor, a DNase inhibitor, and a RNase inhibitor.

The microfluidic device of claim 1 , wherein the stabilizing agent is useful to completely or substantially prevent degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker selected from the group consisting of a protein, a glycoprotein, a nucleic acid, an enzyme, an enzyme inhibitor, and a metabolite.
8 . The microfluidic device of claim 1 , wherein the stabilizing agent is useful to completely or substantially prevent degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker indicative of a disease.
9 . The microfluidic device of claim 8 , wherein the disease state is selected from the group consisting of a cancer, a metabolic disease, a cardiac disease, diabetes, a bacterial infection, a viral infection, a fungal infection, and a parasitic infection.

The microfluidic device of claim 1 , wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of Fixanal® Buffer 6.0, acetic acid, aluminum hydroxide bentonite, aluminum sulfate hydrate, benzoic acid, aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate, caffeine, and 3-tert-butyl-hydroxyanisole, or a combination thereof.
11 . A microfluidic device for analyzing the presence or absence of a diagnostic marker to be detected in a body fluid, the microfluidic device comprising:
a sample reservoir having a sample input port in fluid connection with at least one detector array, wherein said detector array comprises at least one detector comprising a reaction chamber having an immobilized capture molecule;
a stabilizing agent useful to completely or substantially prevent degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker;
a reagent capable of undergoing a colorimetric reaction or displaying an optically detectable signal and capable of reacting with the diagnostic marker;
a filter capable of separating at least one unwanted component from the body fluid; and
a results display, wherein a result from the detector array is visualized;
wherein the stabilizing agent is selected from the group consisting of Fixanal® Buffer 6.0, acetic acid, aluminum hydroxide bentonite, aluminum sulfate hydrate, benzoic acid, aluminum potassium sulfate dodecahydrate, caffeine, and 3-tert-butyl-hydroxyanisole, or a combination thereof.
12 . The microfluidic device of claim 11 , further comprising a control display, wherein the detection of at least one control reagent by the at least one detector is visually detectable.
13 . The microfluidic device of claim 11 , wherein the diagnostic marker selected from the group consisting of a protein, a glycoprotein, a nucleic acid, an enzyme, an enzyme inhibitor, and a metabolite.
