Threaded suture anchor
The present disclosure relates to a suture anchor. The suture anchor includes a body having a proximal end and a distal end, the body including threads along at least a partial length of the body and at least one through hole, the threads including a profile such that the threads located near the distal end of the body include a first shape and the threads located near the proximal end of the body include a second shape different from the first shape. Delivery devices and anchor dilators are also disclosed.
1. A suture anchor comprising:
a body including a proximal end, a distal end, and a central axis extending, longitudinally, between the proximal end and distal end, the body including threads along at least a partial length of the body and at least one through hole oriented transverse to the central axis of the body and configured to receive at least one suture;
wherein a profile of the threads near the distal end of the body has a first shape and a profile of the threads located near the proximal end of the body has a second shape different from the first shape;
wherein the body defines a cannulation extending along the central axis and the cannulation is configured to receive an inserter; and
wherein the body includes a suture bridge formed therein, the suture bridge extending from the at least one through hole toward the distal end of the body, and at least one recess in communication with and extending distally from the cannulation such that a distal end of the at least one recess extends beyond a distal end of the at least one through hole.
2. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the threads transition from the first shape to the second shape.
3. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the first shape is sharp for cutting into bone and the second shape is blunt for producing interference between the threads and bone.
4. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the at least one through hole includes a first through hole and a second through hole; and
wherein the suture bridge extending between the first through hole and the second through hole.
5. The suture anchor of claim 4 , wherein the at least one recess is defined around at least a portion of the first through hole for receiving a prong of the inserter.
6. The suture anchor of claim 4 , wherein the threads extend from the proximal end along the length of the body to an area distal to the first through hole and proximal to a distal end of the second through hole.
7. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the cannulation is square-shaped, such that at least two corners of the cannulation are aligned with the at least one through hole, and other corners of the cannulation are not aligned with the at least one through hole.
8. The suture anchor of claim 4 , wherein the cannulation is square-shaped, such that at least two corners of the cannulation are aligned with the first and second through hole, and other corners of the cannulation are not aligned with the first and second through hole.
9. The suture anchor of claim 4 , wherein the at least one recess extends to an area proximal to the second through hole.
10. The suture anchor of claim 1 , wherein the at least one recess is aligned with corners of the cannulation.
